• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

non factory trailer hitch

After reading my post in it a forgot to ask are there any after market hitches avaible for a RTS. JW Miller

With no reply's I'd say probably not but if someone did make an after market hitch it to would be very expensive. If your looking for inexpensive after market parts for the Spyder you might want to hang loose for about five to ten years.

The Mel's Monster Garage (MMG) swingarm hitch would fit. Frame mounted hitches will not. The MMG hitch does not include the wiring harness and trailer isolation module like the factory hitch. The factory hitch has the special BRP connector, so it will fit the RT-622 trailer, but will need to be adapted to other trailers. Other wiring would have to be adapted to the RT-622 trailer the hard way, since the wiring harness is not available separately.

Hey scottie..I found a brp part number 710002029 which is called a tongue harness for the RT to RT trailer.
Apparently it is available as a single piece which goes from under the left trunk trailer plug to the actual trailer plug.

My question is now, can one separate the trailer in plug of the cable to wire in the 4 or 5 wire flat trailer plug??

I used the tongue harness for the basis of my adapter. This is the best thread on the subject, with a link to the pinout diagram. There is even a color code label on the tongue harness. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has been able to make any converter work to convert the separate turn signals on the RT to a trailer with combined brake/turn lights. My best suggestion is to add some turn lights (and wiring) to the trailer, and use a five wire plug (or five poles of a six wire plug). The Spyder has separate right and left brake circuits, so you just need to choose one. The other alternative is to wire the trailer tongue harness to your trailer directly, but then the trailer will only work with a Spyder RT. BTW, be sure to leave enough wire. The Spyder connector is a long way from the ball.
