Just a quick note to give some kudos where they belong.
When I got my Spyder back in the beginning of July, I shopped around quite a few places for insurance.
Turns out Nationwide was just getting into the business of insuring motorcycles, and I already had my home and auto with them, so they gave me a very good quote.
I paid for a full year and was fat dumb and happy.
I just got a bill in the mail a couple weeks back for an additional $296 dollars for that policy. Seems when I was quoted, the Spyder wasnt in the underwriters system yet, so they quoted it at a Sport Touring rate. They have since classified it in their system as a Sport Street (read crotch rocket) and wanted more money. Not acceptable!
I contacted my agent, who vowed to get it straightened out. I finally called back this morning since it had been a week or so since I last talked to him. He said they wouldnt budge, but being a man of his word, he honored his quote to me and is paying the $296 out of his pocket for this years policy. He did say that I should expect the higher rate when I renew next year, but I can accept that, as I was never promised this rate for more than a year.
It was nice to see some integrity in a business that is usually a take it or leave it kind of deal.
