Hi y'all, want to introduce myself. We live in Bedford KY. Been riding a long time, two wheelers and pushed a hack a couple of years when the kids were young. We were looking at new two wheelers and stopped to look at the Spyders.
The better half likes the RT-S no argument from me, have to keep her happy.
Will pickup a 2015 RT-S Friday September 18.

Has anyone ever had a problem with road hazards to the wheel/tires.
Is the extended warranty a good option.

Any advice.

Have not heard of any problems with road hazard to the wheels and tires.
Extended warranty is like Bob said...but your choice and you have till the manufacturer warranty expires to decide...

Welcome from a new rt-s rider also. Pick yourself up one of these pumps and a plug kit. If you can't fix any tire issue with these items, it's AAA. I'll pass on a little tip heard here, straddle any road hazards between the front and rear wheel. Either side. Takes a little practice but works! :thumbup:

An extended warranty is a good idea since the :spyder2: can be expensive to fix sometimes.

Road Hazards: Dodging them can be a bit of practice and fine art. You have to keep that centered rear wheel in mind. Since the :ani29: is quite wide, trying to totally miss an obstacle can sometimes be impossible or dangerous. As mentioned above, straddling (if possible) between the outer wheel and the back is what you want to do if possible.

So far this has been the only road hazard that I was not able to overcome... you
will however find out soon that all the stuff you avoided on 2 wheels, will
not always be able to be avoided with 3 wheels... the back wheel will hit the stuff
you swerve to miss like you do on two wheels. Other than having to learn to
ride differently you will have a great time on your new Spyder....

I have a 2010 RT and the only cigarette lighter type plug on mine is in the trunk. I think it is rated for very low amps so if you get a pump, put a fused cigarette lighter type outlet coming direct off the battery; read your instructions for the pump to figure out exactly how many amps it draws. On my GL1500 I had a cigarette lighter outlet in the left map pocket and it was rated at about 1A as I recall. Did not take long to figure out why my pump wouldn't work. The on-board pump had been disabled when my 1500 was triked. I installed an aftermarket power outlet on my GL1800 that mounted down on the side and was rated high enough so that a pump would work.

:welcome: So does that mean you're getting a Spyder, too? Or are you sticking with 2-wheels?

I agree with the other responders that you should get the extended warranty. See if your dealer will throw it in to the deal.

This inflator requires 15amps while the 12volt power outlet in the trunk in only designed to supply a current of 3 amps. So a separate outlet must then be added for it to work. Just a heads-up....

Newbe here update

Picked up my new Spyder RT-S, we have put on 280 miles.
Like the ride. :yes:

After 45 years of two wheelers the operation is a bit different. :shocked:
Operating an ATV has made the transition to steering a bit easier.
