• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello all

Bought my Spyder 1 week ago and have about 400 miles on it now,
I got a new 2012 RT Limited Lava Brown w/tan seat.

I have been riding cycles for 45 years so a three wheeler feels
a little different, especially in the turns.

But mostly the wife wanted it, so I jumped at that opportunity. ;)

It looks like a great bunch of people on this forum and will have
many questions in the near future.

I'm from Reno, NV by the way.

Welcome Aboard, Let the Par'tay Begin..:yes::yes::yes::yes::congrats: Mike......:agree:......:thumbup:

This is the place

You have found the site to answer any and all questions you may have. I have only had my RT Limited for a month and I feel like I know it inside and out because of all the reading I have done on this site. I have riden motors for quite a few years and this new machine does take some getting use to. I just got back from a week in South Dakota, Sturgis area and had a great time. My wife swears by this new ride. It is the only thing keeping her riding. That makes it all worth it. Enjoy the sight. Ask lots or questions and do lots of reading. Thanks to this sight I've torn my down and put it back together again just to see if I could and to learn what makes her tic.

:welcome:and:congrats:on your new spyder. There is a wealth of info and experience on this board. Don't be afraid to ask questions. WElcome to the family. Dale

I've been on two wheels since a kid in the dirt. I got tired of dodging deer and drivers who 'didn't see me'. After a bad motorcycle accident in 1987, I took 20 years off from riding. The movie 'Wild Hogs' made me want a bike again. I bought a Honda VTX 1300 Retro. Never felt comfortable on it. After having it for almost 5 years, it only had 1,180 miles on it when I traded it in for a 2011 Viper Red RTS Spyder. We have owned it for 11 months and have close to 9,000 miles now.

Going from 2 wheels to 3 was a big change. Like you said, especially in the turns. It took me about 10 hours of ryde time to get the feel of things and to unlearn years of motorcycle experience. As time goes on, you'll get more comfy with it. I will recommend one thing that you'll notice makes a big difference for your first mod. Get ELKA stage 1 shocks for the front. Turns are much more accurate with virtually no roll out. The wind buffeting from semi's on the highway will almost all go away, and they are adjustable on the fly if you want to experiment with different settings. There are several threads and posts on here about replacing the stock shocks.

Welcome to the group and happy ryding!

Welcome to the forum! You'll love the bike and the Folks here on the Forum will enhance your experience with the Spyder more than you can imagine. They are a great bunch and this is the best place to get information as well.

First piece of advice to a newbie! Don't start buying stuff for you new ride yet. Look around at other Spyders, check out the posts see what works for you. Then sell the cars, house and kids and make you bike unique!

:welcome:

the perfect ride for checking out all the other rides during "HOT AUGUST NIGHTS"

Haven't ridden nearly as long as you guys but had two - 2 wheelers before my first Spyder. The Silver Seal is, hands down, the best I've ever had.

Ride in comfort,

Welcome to the group! :welcome: We've been on our Spyder 2 years and 29000+ miles. Don't get worried about your decision to buy one if you notice a lot of negative posts here...we all like to :cus: a lot. It's a good forum for getting questions answered. It's a great group of folks and a wonderful bike to ride. Have fun, be safe.

:congrats: on the new ride. We pick ours up next week (providing all the parts get here and are installed).
