• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So here I am, the new guy. I took delivery today of a 2010 RS-S. Rode some around the neighborhood and then ventured out for a short trip to nowhere. I rode a Spyder last year at an event in St. Pete and really liked it but thougt it was out of my price range. I an retiring at the end of June and decided to buynmyself a retirement present. Traded in my Piaggio MP3 (which I really loved) because it was just not big enough for long rides. A recent trip from Clearwater to Leesburg for their bikefest was brutal on my back so I began looking for something bigger. The guys I ride with all have bigger bikes, mostly Harleys but I have never wanted to be one of those old dudes who obsess over chrome and such.

Dealer gave me a fair trade and good discount on the Spyder so I am now a happy almost retired dude with a classy ride. So far the only thing I think I will change is the windscreen. Any suggestions? Any ideas on where to go for aftermarket parts? What cleaning products to use?

Thanks for hearing me out and I hope to stop by regularly for advise, riding tips and ideas.

Hi and welcome.

There are lots of dealers on the front page of the site near the bottom. You'll find all kinds of after market products to spend your hard earned retirement on. Many of them also have windshields. BRP also has a secondary windshield that can replace the small one.

I personally chose to order a madstad windshield (http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/it.A/id.240/.f)when I ordered mine. You can click on the bar at the top and do a search for windshield and get lots of opinions on what others on the board have chosen.

Enjoy your present!

Congrats Florida Rev

Congrats Florida Rev. Glad to hear you got yourself one. On Spyderlovers.com, we have a bunch of very good vendors to purchase your specialty products from. I will warn you about going outside of our vendors. There have definitly been some horror stories posted here about doing such. I'm not saying, "Don't" but be careful if you do. Maybe do a BBB search first. Also check out the For Sale section here. Good riding! Jerry

Congrats on your new ride. :2thumbs: The BRP windshield for touring is a good add on as well as all the other ones mentioned. Other mods you might consider-- are mirror extenders, handlebar risers (get at least 3 inches) if you want a more upright position for riding. Comfort seat is good from BRP. If you are going with bags the BRP stock ones from GIVI are very good. The website has a lot of stuff from other suppliers so have fun looking at the sponsers ads and offerings. You can also get some good ideas from looking at the picture galleries on the site. Check out AK picture gallery #2 for how my spouses bike turned out. (2009 RS). Have a great time and keep us posted.
