• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Ryder in South Carolina

Hey there folks! I've been lurking around a few weeks reading all I can about these cool machines and decided to join once I got my new ride. My name is Nate and I live in the upper corner of SC, within 30 min of some really good mountain roads. From what I can gather I may be a little different from a lot of y'all in that I have very little street motorsports experience. Every bit of my riding in the last 20 years has been on either an ATV or in a Polaris RZR. But since my dad and some of my brothers are planning a cross country riding trip this fall to the Idaho panhandle I figured it was time to get my butt some seat time. I've known about the Spyders since they were introduced and have always been intrigued by them but until now never had a reason to buy one. Since I wasn't really sure how much I would like it we looked around for one that had a very small price of admission. As it turns out there was a 2008 GS SM5 less than an hour away with a motivated seller. It is a Premier Edition (No. 68 to be exact) with at the time less than 19k miles. I've put a few hundred more on this past week and cannot describe how much fun I have had!

So if you guys have any suggestions for mods I would like such as a real windshield, handlebar risers, gel seat pad, Bluetooth, etc. I am all ears. Also, if you have suggestions for can't miss sights along the way (Smokies, Tail of the Dragon, anything in Illinois or Iowa?, Black Hills, Sturgis, Glacier NP, Yellowstone) I would also appreciate it. Maybe I'll pass some of you along the way, if I do I will be sure to wave.

Oh, I almost forgot, my dad and brothers will be on Gold Wings, trikes and one with a sidecar. We'll also have a chase truck because unfortunately we will have to trailer everything back home.

Welcome welcome....

To both the spyder world and this awesome site...congrats on your new ryde..:2thumbs: one of the originals.. sounds like you are planning a great trip. Don't know what mods you may have so ryde is some more and see what you feel you might need. The need comes with the miles...:roflblack: they are good to go from the git go but you may change them as you go....

If you have been lurking here, you probably have already read the Do's and Do Nots. If you havent, you need to. Great info on shift points and other tips to get the most out of these great bikes. Welcome to the best site out there.
