• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Picked it up last Wednesday. It has been raining on and off the last few days here in North Georgia but, I did find out why I need a mud flap on the back today. Going to try to get a few rides in this week. The wife and I are headed to Maggie Valley for the Spyder Rally in Oct. I want to get a little more seat time before we head out. We have been planning on traveling with the spyder for a couple of years.

Welcome. The Spyder is great at dumping water and grime on your passenger. Make sure your wife has good rain gear. It isn't an issue for the driver so maybe you should just buy your wife her own and you both will be mud free.

Congratulations on your new Spyder! They are great and the main reason we have a motorcycle! We've been dreaming of traveling on one for a couple of years and took our first step by buying ours just after the 4th of July. Hope you love yours as much as we love ours! Have a great time riding!!!

Yep, that's for sure. After one recent trip there was as much grime on the backside of the windshield as on the front, and I have a mud flap! :banghead: But that was probably from the circular air flow around the bike more so than from a rooster tail.

A word of caution based on my experience. Don't let the flap get any closer than 5 to 6" to the pavement. Any longer it can get caught between the tire and driveway when backing up. Mine got caught when I was backing up over the curb in the pic below and tore right off. Fortunately, it was made from recycled rubber mat material and tore real easy. I made mine using 1/4" thick rubber mat from a local farm and garden supply store. I'm not familiar with after market flaps so they may all hang high enough to not create a snagging problem.

super mud flap

I know what you mean on road grim. My wife and I rode to Levenworth, WA. in Febuary 2014 over Stevens Pass. When we got there the back of the bike as well as her back and helmet were covered in grit. when I got back home I made my own mud flap and have had no problem since.
