I know people get new Spyders every day, but just an update for those who will head down this path soon, too.
Picked it up near Portland, Oregon, drove it to Seattle. I stopped about every 50 miles, and kept it under the speed limit.. as it is break in time..and, riding a new Spyder home, my first Spyder, was a bit mentally draining! A blast..but it was 95degrees or so, hot for us Seattleites.... and it is a totally new way to drive! My advice to someone who is set to do a long ride home... take it easy. Let people pass you. Let yourself get used to the bike. You can go crazy later.
I met Shawn, the guy that does all the Spyder videos. Seems a good guy. They rib him a bit there about his "fame". ;-) As I told him, I only knew about this dealer because of him.. and I drove more than 3 hours to get my bike due to a good price.. and the good word out about him...and his videos.
My daughter's BF picked me up at the bus station and got me to the dealer. He also got the first ride. Next one went to an old drinking buddy of mine from college days. She lives five minutes from the dealer. Fun to see her again, and she and her husband do bikes.
I did get an extended warranty. It protects me through the 72 month loan. Zero deductable. PowerRev is the provider. I have 30 days to cancel and get full refund. Any thoughts? Anyone heard anything bad about Power Rev? They guy claimed you can't get the five additional year plan if you wait until the end of your two year warranty. I dunno, these guy says a lot of things.
GOt insurance, and when I went online the cheapest was $100 a month. Ugh. This guy got me insurance for about $560. Allstate. My first claim in 25 years or so happened a few weeks ago.. and it wasn't in the "insurance system" yet... so that helped!
The bikes there had sales prices on them. Ask for more off. Just sayin. We all make our own deals, and that is fine.... so I'll not talk price here.
The ride home was great. What a nice ride. After about 200 miles now I am feeling pretty comfortable.
Oh.. and I gotta get rid of that low windshielf. Anyone wanna trade? Smoked low cut windshield.. looks "sexy".. trade for biggest BRP windshield.
