• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New 2011 RTS

Newbe -- just got 2011 RTS. does anyone know:
1- if the gromment issue was resolved for the 2011 RTS or should I plan on glueing them myself.
2- do the battery connections need to be modified when adding tender jr on the 2011 model
3- what else should I check over closely immediately

Not happy with dealer prep after 2 days. Radiator coolant was 2" over max line in holding tank and puked big time on garage floor, wife not impressed. Tires were seriously under inflated, only 11# in front 22# rear, now 15/28 much better ride.:dontknow:

1. The side grommet issue appears to be resolved, but you still have to be absolutely sure to make sure the hook at the top rear corner is engaged under the adjacent body panel. The remaining grommets stll push through, and should be both checked and glued, IMO. I had one half pushed through on delivery.

2. The battery terminals are slightly reconfigured, but the connection is the same. There is now a fancy new positive post boot, as well as a rubber cover over the rear of the battery, including the negative terminal. It may be easier to just buy an adapter from SAE (Battery Tender) to cigarette, and plug into the outlet in the rear trunk, but you can still attach a pigtail to the battery, if you prefer.

3. No other glaring needs, although you might want to check the body fasteners for tightness before the 600 mile service.

:welcome: Can't say I have met anyone happy with dealer prep... Even though the grommets are supposedly better, most of us have some sort of supplemental connector to avoid losing the tupperware over the oil change area. the grommets just aren't enough for security even with glue.
I assume you checked the oil, sometimes the dealers overfill that as well.
Have to leave other items to techkies who will be along shortly:congrats:

Thanks for info - are you getting spare round and oval grommets from the dealer how about those plastic rivets. Any info on "supplemental connector" for the tupperwear over the oil fill would be appreachiated. It may be improved over previous models but that panel connection to the machine looks "suspect" to me to say the least.

I am not a wrench, but to the best I can tell, my dealer prep was very good. We discussed air pressure and I told them 18# in front as I like a firmer ride...no problem they said. I have an appointment to get my 600 next week. I asked to watch and show me how to check the oil, ie, remove the panels properly, etc. They said fine and they would show me all steps in the 600 process.

Scotty,
What type of glue or adhesive would you recommend, that would not damage the rubber grommet.
RTV silicone, and let it cure overnight before installing the panels, or 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, which cures more quickly. Clean the plastic throughly before gluing in the grommet. I forget what BRP recommends, but there are other suitable adhesives, including Goop. These are the only two I have tried.

Any trick involved in getting the gromments out without tearing or damaging them so you can sand and prep plastic before reinstalling gromment and glueing. :doorag:
Thanks

You don't need to sand...and I wouldn't recommend it. Except for the middle side cover grommets, which are now well secured, the rest push through fairly readily with your fingers. Just wipe down the plastic with some alcohol or prep-sol, and glue the grommets in. Clean up excess glue after each one. For BRP's recommendation, see here.

Since removing coolant and getting it down to the Max line on the holding tank she has stopped puking anti-freeze :clap:Poor setup by dealer nojoke Tires at right pressure now also. At least the oil was at the right level. 2 outa 3 ain't bad. All tupperware will be coming off to check everything, battery connections ect.

Even after glueing the grommets with rtv black, the front of those two side panels wouldn't remain flush. So, I used an idea found here and used some 2" strips of industrial velcro along the top front edge. Problem solved.

Doug - That sounds like an excellent idea, where did you buy industrial velcro?
