• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a 2012 SE5 RT and it pulls to the left somewhat when you let the bars go. You always feel like you are pulling it to the right.
There was even tire wear on the left tire but the right tire is wearing on the inside. (excessive Camber)
I have set up a system to measure the camber on the wheels.
The left wheel has a positive angle of .9 deg The right hand has a negative angle of 4.5 Deg.
I know BRP say that you cannot adjust the Camber or the Caster.
Looking at the construction of the front suspension I see that you could effect the camber by adding shims to the top mounts of the axle assembly.
I did this and have reduced the amount of camber on that wheel down to a negative angle of 1.7 Deg. This will reduce the uneven wear I am hoping but probably do nothing with regards the pulling to the left.
My understanding is that pulling is related to toe in or out.
It had a laser alignment a few weeks ago and they said it was all in within spec and reset buds.

Any thoughts.

I am in New Zealand and we have only one service center with alignment gear.
 
CASTER - CAMBER

:welcome:....Due to the fact that all Spyders have front suspensions that are FIXED ( meaning non-adjustable ) as designed by BRP's engineers, and come from the factory that way. Either your Spyder is damaged or your measurements are in-correct..... 5 + years ago some folks ( me included :yikes: ) tried the shim thing like you but with very little effect..... the design from BRP places 98% of correctability on the TOE-IN & TOE-OUT adjustments ..... If whoever did your Alignment was using the BRP - OFFICIAL CERTIFIED method ..... it is less than accurate...... It has been proven that the only precise method is the Rolo - Outlaw Lazer alignment system. I believe yours can be corrected with a TOE correction....... you didn't mention the mileage (kilometers) on the tires ?

In spec you should be good & not having a ware issue. Now that the tires are worn it will only progress & increase :banghead: Hate to say you need new tires, but might just be the case. Good luck& keep us informed:thumbup:
 
How is your belt tracking?
If the rear wheel is not straight it will also cause the bike to pull to one side.

I used to do car and truck alignments. In theory a vehicle will pull to the side with the least amount of positive caster. Since that's not adjustable on Spyder. I would make sure the toe in is correct. If one side is toed out it will wear on the inside tread. Toed in than outside tread. But it will be a feathered wear all the way across the tread.

A note on the tire wear it is even and has no feathering. The bike has done 24000K (14000Miles) and it is the original Tires.
I have checked the Pivots and ball joints and there id no undue wear. Everything is tight.
The belt is tracking fine and always has just under a 1mm gap between the belt and the pulley shoulder.

PMK The procedure you have explained is detailed and simple. Thanks. I am fabricating some hardware that will fit to the rims and also through the rear axle to give me a level reference for the chassis. Once done I will remeasure and check my settings.

I have an outcome I guess.
We have now done 40,000k's and the tire wear is now fairly even.
With my shimmed right hand side.
I am just going to have new tires fitted and then take the bike in for another alignment.
They want $200.00 per tire for Kendra's plus 30.00 for fitting. Bloody burglers.
Kuhmos will be the go I think.
The service center have a new "trained" tech so we will see how it goes and I will try to remember to update the post.

Still love the ride.
