Need help with juice box problems

Hello all,

Well i just installed a two brothers dual, with the juice box ( left the settings the same as from factory ). I rode the bike last night for about 30 min ran awesome and another 40 miles today and everything was good:yes:. On the way to bike night about 20-30 min into my ride it started cutting out real bad... when i would keep it at a steady rpm in whatever gear i was in it was not making a steady engine sound and cutting out. I made it to my destination and checked all the wires everything was on good. I let it sit for a little over an hour to hour and half and when we left it was running perfect again. about 20 min into my ride it started cutting out again. When i got home i turned the bike off got out my tools and took the side panel off. Im getting no error indications after i start up the bike , the light scrolls 1 - 8 back and forth and then blinks steady green on 1. Im no master mechanic i know enough to get things done but this is stumping me? i was going to play with the settings but with it running great before tonight i dont really want to just yet. any help would be apprecaited as im about to rip this thing out haha:gaah:

Can you post what your settings are at?

I don't recall what the stock settings are--- but make sure modes 5 and 6 are NOT set the same.

5 is how it senses throttle position for 'acceleration'
6 is how it senses wide open throttle position.

if they are set the same the JB gets confused and will cause the engine to cut out under certain situations.

This may sound super dumb but how do i read this thing... i counted the number of clicks but according to my readings my number 2 click showed up as 1 lit up red, click 3 showed as 6,7 lit up yellow and 8 was blue... my click 4 was a yellow 4 and blue 8... does this sound right.. this was with the bike off its 12 where im at and im pretty sure my neighbors will wake up.

Gotta say I have been having a few of the same problems. I have installed the two Bro's m2 slip on and one min. it runs great the next spit, sputter, pop. I asked around every one but the tech. at the dealership. Said to get the juice box. The dealership tech. said the Can Am computer was just to touchy and the juice box in his op was worthless.But' hey whats a tech. know. I purchased the J.b. along with the green air filter and I gotta say unless Someone on here can explain this crap to me. Then I am about to agree with the dealership tech. :dontknow: What I do know is I LOVE the sound of the after market exh. but' it gets a little old changing the J.B. settings every time the weather changes.

Eddie, i feel your frustration. I can tell you this though when my bike does run good it has never felt anyway near as powerful as with the juice box i fully believe in this product. Also i find that techs are real flaky a lot of them know what brp tells them and i can ask multiple techs the same question and get multiple different answers. I use this site as my spyder bible lol.

Firefly - i just found the manual and it tells me how to read the juice box i will post my settings as soon as i figure them out ( it may take me a few min lol ) thanks for you help though i deff appreciate it and will need it after i post my settings.

Well i just checked my settings against the stock ones and they are identical, stock settings are as follows

1 (green) =.5 - i know this one does matter
2 (yellow) = 2
3 (red) = 1
4 (green/blue) = 6.5
5 (yellow/blue) = 4
6 (red/blue) = 4

looks like stock settings from Two bro's has 5 and 6 the same... I will change this tomorrow, my question is.... which one to change and should i go up or down ( the only experience i have with changing rich/lean mixture is with my gas powered rc car :roflblack. I do know the - will go lean and + will go rich... just not sure for sputtering if i want to back fuel off or add more. Thanks again!!!

Settings 5 and 6 just tell the JB how quickly to react to your throttle input--- and then apply the appropriate fuel setting (2 and 3).

1= not used.
2= extra fuel to add during acceleration
3= extra fuel to add during WOT (wide open throttle)
4= extra fuel to add during cursing
5= how sensitive it reacts to throttle input in order to use setting 2
6= how sensitive it react to throttle input in order to use setting 3


so 5 and 2 are related and 6 and 3 are related.

2,3,4 --- the higher the number the more fuel.

if 5 and 6 are the same-- JB gets confused and can cut engine out.

I think I have 5 set to 3 and 6 to 1. Seems as long as they are different you should be okay.

I was having serious engine cutouts when passing or when going from WOT back down to cruising... and SethO told me about this issue in Cuba-- changed 5 and 6 to make them different and have not had the 'cut out' since I made the change.

Wow man this breakdown really simplified everything... I will change my 5 & 6 to your settings and see if that did the trick. Thanks again man i really appreciate this, i was about to pull my hair out today

the mechanical bull is back... started acting up tonight after being in some stop and go traffic for 10 min the temp bar was reading 5.... im stumped on this.. i shut the spyder off multiple times and it was still doing. it finally i pulled over let it sit for over 30 min and when i started it back up it did it sometimes and sometimes not.. it was at steady throttle and during acceleration... could this be a bad box? i have 5100 miles on my spyder i plan on changing the plugs at 6000 but im thinking i may want to do this sooner. I have 1000 things running through my head what it could be but it doesnt make sense that sometimes it runs great and other times it doesnt. any other ideas of where i could start to check? i was going to adjust it but it didnt want to touch any of the 1-4 settings as it runs fine most of the time but when it acts up it acts up.

Have you had both of the BRP software updates done to your Spyder?

Glad you asked that i was going to make a new thread regarding it but i didnt want to take up more space on here then needed. I had my bike to the shop on 3/31 and they updated the computer to all the latest updates... i keep reading about an update to the update... if it was released after 3/31 then i do not have it.... searched online for the release date of the update but no luck.... also in regards to adjusting this box... how do i know when im going to lean for where i want to be also when it was cutting out i could smell gas like i have never smelt before so im guessing its rich.... im confused as all heck man. wish i knew of someone in my area that could just get this thing working for me. my other option is to take the box off and run the exhaust as is or get the 02 modifier not sure if this would help??

Are you sure it really makes a difference if you leave your settings how you want them when having updates done? Not saying it's a bad idea--- just wondering.

Bonecrusher.... by what it looks like you saying the stock map being at .5 for settings 1-3 would mean that would be as lean as it was stock.... that makes alot more sense if that is the case cuz i was scared that of running it way to lean... but if stock is .5 the whole way thru then i will just start there and work my way up. just want to be clear on this... im about to just buy the evo race filter now so that way i can do this all at once and get it done and over with. also if this was a faulty unit it would run the garbage all the time correct?

I read on the site that its normal but i also need to make sure i don't have any leaks as well. the fun of playing with toys like these

The juicebox is supposed to change the stock fuel curve...if an update is going to change the computer system for performance, this means it's going to alter the stock fuel curve...I figure if you are going to alter the bike's fuel and/or air system, you wouldn't want to mess with it while it's doing this...

Why not allow the bike to be 'clean' and add in the juicebox settings after the update...I don't want to chance any potential issues by 'juicing' the bike while it's getting its CPU altered...

I had my setting 4 (cruise) too high and was using unnecessary gas...on my bike, it was really crushing my fuel efficiency...I cut back on it a lot and I'm doing a lot better...I also tuned down some of the other settings as I didn't see a huge difference...sometimes, I ended up flooding and the bike performed worse.

Im just running the Two bros dual and the juicebox thats it. haha my setting 4 is 6.5 this is was two bros has it set at from factory... maybe ill cut this back a bit, no wonder my bike is drinking gas like crazy. After reading some other threads on here im wondering if one of my cylinders is shutting down.... my reason for thinking this is when it sputters and runs like a mechanical bull i can physically feel the bike cut out then pickup and this repeats the remainder of my ride... if i give it hard acceleration it picks up just as fast as it always did, so im hella confused now. My idle is fine when i come to a stop and everything i imagine if i was running on one cylinder i would prob have an indication light or have a really rough idle... make no sense that it just does this after a while of riding
