• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need help with ACS Position Sensor

Y Rider

New member
After several months of waiting we finally got our new 2011 RT Limited. What a great ride. Well worth the wait. The only issue was while riding it home the ride felt really rough. Checked the suspension position and the display had a Manual warning message. I had to press the lower suspension button to release some air. Once I did this the ride was good again. After getting it home I checked the ride-height (ACS) position sensor and noticed the bottom of the lower arm of the sensor was disconnected. I was going to temporarily use a screw and aircraft nut for the connection so I could ride it to the dealership.

Can someone tell me how this connection is made? I don't want to damage something by making an improper connection.

Thanks, Rick

The info you need is contained in a pdf file, Can-Am Warranty Campaign 2010-0006.
I have this document and I would have attached it for you but it exceeds the permissable size for attached pdf files on this forum. I could only have gotten my copy of the original file on or about Spyderlovers.com quite recently during the time I was chewing my nails waiting for delivery of my RT, so if you do a search here you might find it. Failing that I'd be happy to e-mail the complete file to you. ;)

Does this help?

I installed the system on my RT and I recall the arm of the sensor goes into the plastic dog bone thing that attaches to the frame.

It can go in two ways and this is the only image I could find that sorta shows the correct way.

EDIT:
The dogbone should be more vertical than angled, if that makes sense.

Thanks. This is a good pic but it doesn't show the lower end of the dog bone that connects to the frame. The piece that the dog bone connects to on the frame has a metric threaded insert. I don't have anything to fit so I just used a couple small zip ties to hold it on. It's loose enough to allow movement and should hold together for the 35 mile trip to the dealership.

The document is on the Home page, but the file name is wrong.

I'm back from the dealer and now all is well with my :spyder2: :D. They replaced the missing bolt that mounts the ACS position sensor lower dog bone to the frame. While it was there they also checked the recall on the steering angle sensor and found the connector not fully inserted. Glad they caught that. Saved me from a future trip back to the service department. The ride back home was perfect. What a great riding bike. You were all correct about people asking questions about the Spyder. It's the first time I've taken over 15 minutes to put 5 gallons of gas in a vehicle. :roflblack:
