Had to find a way to transport the flyrod on the RT. I had some nylon cable ties on hand but did not like the way they cut into the rubber of the hand-grips. A visit to the local Ace and I found a variation on cable ties, Grip Strip® Velcro Fasteners. These are wide enough to not cut into the hand-grips, are reusable and did the job nicely. The rubber of the hand-grips provided enough grip on my flyrod tube to keep it in place and one-and-a-half wraps of each of the two velcro strips secured it for the entire trip. Plus, it was high enough to allow access to saddle bag without moving it. Mind you, the first fifty miles, I nervously was checking on it every few minutes but after that, I would just give it a shake each time we stopped.
These velcro strips now reside in the 'glove' box for whatever future need.
