• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My new seat arrived

It arrived yesterday, imagine that a day early.

That's right a conventional western saddle
Here is my daughter in law Jill on it.
Her feet don't even reach the floorboards

Here I am Granted there isn't much room behind me for a passenger, however I have an idea for an additional cushion I can carry in the trunk to allow a passenger to sit up higher should someone be interested.

By the way this is a brand new light weight western saddle delivered to the house for $162.++ I removed the stirrups and used the standard straps to hold it on the seat. Did a test ride of 50 miles yesterday , more leg room and less bent knees.

That is some out of the box thinking, YeeHaw and Giddy Up there cowboy!

Hang a lariat and a Winchester on the side and you are good to go.

Nice...!!

Always said ryding a spyder is like driving a formula race car on horseback...your there..!!! :2thumbs:

Head 'em up! Move 'em out!!! He-Haw!

This is amazing! I am currently working on a design myself for my Spyder. I will keep it a little bit lower though because I don't intend to raise the height by too much. My wife does not want to be sitting much higher than she is now. This is fabulous! Can you still open your glove box? I am a leathercrafter. So I should be able to keep the cost way down for myself. I can't believe that you only paid that for the saddle. There is a tremendous amount of labour involved in the fabrication. I am hoping to find a complete seat. As long as I have the pan. I intend to fabricate mine from scratch. I should be able to keep the height to a minimum and I am integrating the passenger section in my design. I have already finished my glove box protector in Sheridan style leather carving and am presently designing a bra for the trunk. (as we speak) I will post pictures once I'm done. Again, I commend you. This looks absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!

By the way, 162.00 has got to be the delivery charges only right? You have about four hundred dollars of hardware and conchos alone!

Yes the seat still opens

and so does the glove box. It sits that high because I needed the leg room and moved it onto the passenger seat. For shorter people it could be right on the drivers seat. A padded horse blanket came with it that I folded up to support the saddle front. That is also a size 18 saddle, the largest the seller had. Smallest was a 14. I never wore anything small from the day I was born.

No sir

That was the cost of the saddle sales tax with free delivery

But I'll sell it delivered for $562 if you're interested.

It is lite weight. Guessing 10 t0 15 lbs and upholstered slightly padded seat.

I only rec'd it yesterday

That's an incredible idea, particularly considering you're a tall man ... is it comfortable for distance?

Had to figure out how I could mount it. Took the stirrups, and harness apart, and mounted it without damaging anything so if it didn't work out it could be resold (or returned.

After that, only rode 50 miles. B 4, about all I could handle was 30 miles, then would be stopping to stretch my legs.

What a unique idea.:bowdown::firstplace::firstplace: Hopefully it rides as good as it looks.:yes:

Yes akspyderman. I've been doing this for 46 years now. And I've been dealing with Tandy Leather for that long also. The sad part though is that my best years are behind me for sure. The fingers don't bend and respond like they used to. I'm much slower than I used to be and I tire much faster. But it's still a very fun hobby. I just love doing it. Plus you end up with such a big investment that you pretty well have to keep going.
