• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Keep in mind I have ridden NON-Harleys for years and maxi-scooters also. So I am used to the jabs.

So, I come out of the hotdog shack and get on my RT. Guy walks up and says, "How much?" After being shocked by the rude question I decided to answer it honestly. He says, "A Harley costs that much." I figure let me play a bit and said, "But I got 3 wheels with mine." He thought a moment and said, "I think Harley's can come with 3 wheels also." I was choking and trying to keep a straight face. I said, "Where's your bike? What do you ride?" He says, "I don't have one. My wife won't let ride a bike."

No judgement here....just thought it was funny.

Happy to be in the '14 and 1330 clubs.

Sounds about right ;)

The only way that could have ended better; if he had driven off in a Yugo! :roflblack:
Wait... Do any of those still run?

I always get a kick out of someone who says only a Harley is a "real" motorcycle...or says riding a Spyder isn't really riding...and then you find they don't ride at all. Hysterical.

It's great when the unknowing can be so entertaining. I also love it when they express their "expert" opinions and then we find out that they don't ride anything. Add in the, my wife won't let me do it, and it just adds to the fun.

What did Forest Gump say?--You just can't fix stupid. :roflblack:

...but they "know" someone who used to have a Ural, or "something"...

Have had similar incedents. Seems the wife control a lot of the curious ones....:roflblack:
My nephew had a Harley about 30 years or so ago, but I think his wife made him get rid of it after they married. Then about 4 years ago they happened to see a Spyder at a show or somewhere. On the way home she said he could have one of those. I asked him how long it was from the time she said he could have one and when he got it. About one week! :2thumbs:

I feel for the guy. Back in 1972 I sold my Yamaha because my wife was concerned that if I got hurt she could not make the $140/month mortgage payment.
She was at a quilting retreat and many of the ladies mentioned that their husbands/boyfriends rode. She said you need a hobby so I think you should get a Spyder. I had looked at one when they first came out but many circumstances were not right.
i was out of town a few days later and found mine on Craigslist, sent her the picture and said "I want this one" to see how she would react. We bought it that weekend and the dealer delivered it a week later.
i think she really just wants me out of the house!
I love the Spyder (2011RSS) and am on it whenever the weather permits.we both get what we want!

The other day a Harley rider was beside me at a light looked at the spyder, pointed and laughed. When he finally caught up to me at the next light, I did the samething.
Now when he passing me going the other way he waves. ;)

I have never had one to point and laugh but they have pulled up beside me at a light, blipping the throttle, and after seeing them look down at the front of my Spyder there's no more blipping the throttle (I have the 100 H.P. decals on the frunk). They kinda get quite and when I look over at them and nod they just nod back, the light changes and I pull away at a faster than normal clip.

There is a guy with a Harley down the street from me. He usually parks it on the sidewalk kinda like it is on display. If he's outside or standing in his garage, he will give me the one fingered salute as I pass by. Last week, I watched him and a buddy trying to load the same bike into an ancient 2 wheel trailer using a 2x6 as a ramp about a mile down the street. I returned the salute but he just stared at me.

I've had dozens of encounters with Harley riders since I got my Spyder last June. I'm pleased to say that all of them have been nice, curious about my machine, and I've sensed no condescension from them at all. Of course, tomorrow I may come across one of the jerks!

Like y'all, I've also had many of non-riders say disparaging things about my "tricycle", even though they don't have the stones to ride a two or three wheeled motorcycle. I tell them, it's not WHAT you ride, it's THAT you ride, and buddy, you don't ride! That shuts them up!

Maybe it is different parts of the country, but I live two miles from a large, very successful HD dealer. They always have some sort of promotion going on each Saturday, food, demo rides.... I go there on either of my trikes. Some of the guys come over and look them over, ask how I like a trike, etc....never jokes or unkind stupid remarks...honest questions and I give honest answers. Ninety percent of the HD wave and I always wave back. I figure the other 10% are not having a good day.

We are finishing up the 2014 Texas Trike Reunion today with 38 trikes joining in for a couple of days of riding. Fun.

:spyder2:

I ran into an old buddy of mine who has ridden Harleys most of his life. I told him I was trading my Honda in for a Spyder and he said a lot of his Harley buddies were starting to do the same thing or considering it, including himself.

I generally don't have any problems with Harley riders or Harley dealers...it's the people who say you aren't riding a REAL motorcycle even though THEY don't ride at all.

Ignorant doofs.

There's a lot of poseurs out there...:gaah:
And then; there's Bikerz!
Bikerz... Can appreciate ANY other type of bike that someone chooses to own.
Because it's the riding that matters!
Not the ride itself! :2thumbs:

Lots of poseurs for sure out there. I have some great stories about them. :banghead: Tom :trike:
