Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
Yesterday ( 8-28 ) my daughter ( who has a Costco card ) was available to go with me to Costco. This was the last day of the current SALE flyer ..... My main item was Cat Litter which comes in 44 lb. boxes. I bought Five, plus 27 lbs. of Baking Soda ( used as litter deodorant ) plus a few other items. .... So the load was a bit more than 250 lbs... Add trl. weight = 400 lbs +/- ..... My homemade trailer ( with a spare tire ) weighs 120 lbs. ) the trailer doesn't have brakes. .... I use an auto " tie-rod " instead of the conventional coupler & ball set-up.... which makes the trl./ Spyder connection essentially a Stiff Hitch set-up.... It towed like a dream. No clanking or the usual push/pull feeling. Because of the Load I was careful about how I stopped and what the road surface was. .... My route ( chosen for lower speeds ) did involve 6 miles of Gravel surface, other than slowing down for that part, the trip went well..... Pete I know you plan to tow more weight, and need to address that, but the PULLING went fine. My 14 RT preformed as I expected ...... Mike
