Mounting ISCI floorboards

Got my ISCI floorboards and left side is done. Nice!!! Right side disassembled and ready to mount the floorboard. Question is? Do you mount the floorboard and then install the brake pedal back on or do you put the brake pedal/lever on and then mount the floorboard?

Hope to get an answer tonight so I can sleep. Otherwise restless night wondering all night running it through my head and fix it in the morning. Would rather wake up ready to take her on a ride in the morning regardless of how late I am up putting it all back to togehter.

Installation installtions weren't the best on this project. Love the floorboards but not the lack of instructions.

Think I have been out in the sun too long today. Yard work, destroyed two ginormoun wasp nest and then tackled this project. I got it figured out right after I posted this. Only way it will work is to install the brake level/pedal while installing the floorboard. Floorboard relies on the brake pedal bracket for support. DUH!!!

Dang, another question

Do the two washers off the brake pedal/lever go right against the bushings or do they do just go against the bolt head? Boy, if they go against the bushing like I think they do it is a tricky move to get them on. Not sure how they do it. Anyone out there got the answer?

Definitely a tricky move. I had to make a template out of a thin piece of cardboard in order to hold the washer that fits between the lever and casing. It also helps if you coat the washer with thick grease so that it will stay in place when you are trying to lie up the holes to slip your bolt back through.

Whenever I need to put some washers or a nut in a tricky spot, I put a dab of contact cement on each piece & then put them together. Then just a touch on your fingertip will hold them in place while you finish the install.

Work has kept me from finishing this project but finally got some time off this weekend and hope to finish the setup. The grease and a dowell to keep things in place until I slid the bolt through did the trick.

Question now is how tight do you wrench down on the bolt going through the brake pedal mechanism? I don't want to break a bolt off like I did on the left side. That was a bugger to fix. Not much play on the brake pedal going up and down either. Didn't notice that before not sure if it is normal.

I should know better than to take on these projects but this forum gives me the courage to try.

I always kind of figure that I tighten it down with about as much effort as I had to put into getting it loose in the first place.

Obviously not enough to teach me to quit messing with the nest. Still always have to try it myself and get stung. Oh well, nothing but time wasted and its my time so WTH!!!. Bring on the next swarm.
