2218 miles later it worked like a dream. With a givi maxim 4 and a duffle bag for a back rest.
It works fine with a normal back rest, but I don't normally use one and tend to sit in a more
aggressive riding position. Having the pack weight closer to me instead of hanging out over the
tail meant I never noticed any awkwardness going back and forth in corners.
