Received this e-mail today about a great guy and fellow marine. Ski was the first good friend of mine to get killed in combat soon after we arrived in Nam. I won't make it this year. Thought I would share with anybody down that way.
| Hello, I was searching for info on 'Ski', Walt Bienkowski when I came across the www.1stbn1stmarines.org page with his name, your contact. Walt was a good family friend and best friend of my older brother while growing up in Bayside, NY. Walt's birthday is Oct 25. I wanted to let you know, thanks to another good friend and fellow Marine, Walt's memory has not gone unnoticed. Every year at his birthday, a memorial is held at his grave site and a 'Bike ride' organized by the local Veterans MC Club, on Long Island. This has been going on for years as a tribute and honor for our good friend 'Ski'. Thank you for remembering him, |
