• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now that it's here; let's all take a moment to remember WHY it's here...

Thanks... We owe all of you more than we can ever hope to repay! :2thumbs:

I remember it being refereed to as Decoration Day when I was growing up. As kids my grandmother would take us to Gettysburg. Actually it was in 1967 that it became officially known as Memorial Day.

Some of my riding club and I have been mapping a cemetery. We finished this morning. There were 205 veterans graves some dating back to the civil war. There is also the grave of the youngest American to have been KIA in the Viet Nam war.

A number of years ago, when my daughter was about 7 or 8 (now 23), we were at a Memorial Day parade in a neighboring town. As the colors were going by, she walked over to a guy who still had a hat on and asked him to please remove his hat to show respect for the colors and for the men and women who fought and died for our freedom. The guy couldn't get his hat off fast enough. I was never so proud as at that moment. When a child does something like that, it makes me feel that I am a good father. God bless the men and women of the armed forces of The United States of America, and bless our veterans too. "All Gave Some, Some Gave All".

Freedom is not free!

[h=2]Part of the American dream is to live long and die young. Only those Americans who are willing to die for their country are fit to live.
- Douglas MacArthur

May God bless all veterans and active troops, and may the departed souls rest in peace, knowing they served their country beyond expectation.[/h]

I was out at the Dayton VA Center for "Freedom Feast" It is partly to honor vets, partly a place where Vets could get information. Partly a show place to display Military equipment of all wars. The VA Center has been around since the Civil war. Building and so on.
Two thngs stood out. One of the "Leaders" (for lack of better word) is a Widow of a Medal Of Honor Member in VN.
The second is, they give guided tours by mini bus around the Campus, including grave sites and buildings. I overheard a question by a person getting ready to go on the tour. How many hudred men are buried here? The Guides answer: 47,000 are here in Dayton, Ohio. Men and Woman. This is just one of the many VA/Goverment grave yards across America and the World. They are there, so you can be here.

Yesterday morning we gathered for the annual placing of flags on the graves of those vets who have gone on to glory. In our assigned cemetery we placed 347 flags. One grave was that of the youngest American killed in action in the Viet Nam war, Dan Bullock. We had Col. Jeannie Leavitt, Commander of the 4th. Fighter Wing give a short talk before heading out. She was the first female fighter pilot and is the first female fighter wing commander in the USAF. The picture doesn't do her justice but it's the only one I was able to get.
