• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Maybe a new spyder

Hi everyone,
I have been trolling around this forum for the last two months and have decided to join. Seems like alot of good info here. I live in wisconsin more in the central part or so. I am considering on purchasing a touring :spyder2:. I have owned different foreign bikes in the past and presently own a harley road glide. Wife likes to ride also. This would be my first three wheel bike if i decided to buy.

If anybody could give me any info on the power the spyders have with two people on please chime in. I was told they are a little under powered. That was one persons voice on that subject. I have not had the chance to ride one yet but may have the chance this coming week. Thanks

Power is relative, If your ride now is a 500cc, The Spyder feels fast, If you ride a 6/650 not so fast, If you ride a 1000+ not even close. That said the Spyder is more powerful than most cars.

:welcome:
If you've been running a stock Harely it has more power than that but it makes it's power at a higher rpm and that's where some folks get that. It's 100hp 80 torque at 5500rpm or there abouts. :doorag:

Not sure what kind of power you are looking for but I have seen the RT cruise comfortably at 80+mph with 2up, and seen it ride the tail of the dragon and have to wait for Harleys to get out of our way on the way down- also 2 up

Nuff said ?

I have never felt the Spyder to be under powered with both myself and my wife with trailer in tow. It does very nicely on the interstate with two up and plenty of power to spare if you know how to use your transmission. Would I like more power? You betcha, but then I would not mind having another 40HP and two more cylinders. In the meantime I am comfortable with what I have until something more powerful is released.

:agree:Very important. I was talking to a HD rider who took a demo ride and hated the :spyder2:. I asked about RPM and he replied, you should never rev a engine over 3,000. That was a fact and he knew it. I just said, I shift mine about 4,000 or above. He answered, my engine would not last a 1,000 miles.
At that point, I said, I had to go someplace and did so.
If you want to have fun, look up the power band on racing Hondas in 60's and 70's.

This is my first bike /Trike and I love it , my wife like travelling on the back , She finds the back seat very comfortable . As a new rider I like the spyder RT S SE5 very much and the SE5 shifts buttery smooth. I was out this past Sat with cousins on their 1500cc bike and they could not beleive how I could accelerate and shift gears faster than they could. I had no problem keeping up to them on their bikes. The only issue I have had so far is the air ride suspension quit working , the dealer reloaded the program via BUDS and the air ride works great again. Take one for a test ride and after you will be buying one.:2thumbs:

Well I had a chance to take a RT SE5 I believe yesterday and was real impressed. The dealer was real nice and told my wife and I to come back again to test ride if we want. There is no lack of power with the :spyder2:. We also had a chance to test ride a trike harley and if I had to choose between the two I would favor the :spyder2:. Smooth as heck as far as I am concerned. Liked the shifting, could go on and on but won't. Just put some smiles on us. Thanks for the replys and not sure if we get a 2012 or a 2011. Thanks:shemademe_smilie:
