There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. HowTo: Loosen and tighten your nuts ( Ryker wheel nut socket )

Just an FYI here Folks. A 65 mm socket is recommended for the Ryker axle nuts. A Spyder Lover member ( was told since that it was Baja Ron who is a reliable source ) posted that a 2 1/2" socket actually fit better ( I confirmed this with my new socket in 2 1/2" SAE ) but I cannot find that post so I am expanding on that post here and now. A conversion makes 65 mm ( sockets average $55.00 to $65.00 ea. ) 2 mm larger in dia. than 2 1/2". I was concerned that the 2 1/2" socket might be a tad tight but the comment I recently read verified that the 2 1/2" socket was a good fit so I got one. Yeehaaaa ! I have been retired for 13 years and do not have a fat wallet so I often need to search out alternatives. I do not intend to step on any business's toes with this info. Business owners are entitled to make a living also. "Tractor Supply" does not sell 2 3/8" and/or 2 1/2" sockets individually, however, do sell a 4 pc. set in a hard case for $64.99 that includes 2 1/2", 2 3/8", 2 1/4" & 2 1/8" chrome plated sockets. The finish and quality appear to be a decent set to me for home use at least if not commercially. See photos. Dennis

PS - I have gotten some replies and want to explain that the Ryker axle nut spec. is to tighten to 121 ft. lbs. +/- 11 ft. lbs.. The socket must be a 12 point configuration as is the axle nut so a 6 point socket will not work. There are some $20.00 to $22.00 pressed sheet steel sockets available but I only saw those in 6 point styles and at the torque specified for the axle nuts I personally would not trust a pressed sheet steel socket. Bottom line is if anyone can find a working socket for a lower price than I paid then go for it and be a really happy camper. If I had bought a $65.00 socket that would have been fine since it is a necessary tool to remove wheels on your own. I don't know everything which is why I too joined this forum. Keep the plastic up and the rubber down folks !

You may have got a better deal on ebay or amazon, but anyway glad you read BaJarons comment on that 2 1/2 socket to be true!!! He's a straight shooter and would not lead you astray!! :2thumbs:

I am very familiar with Baja Ron, but could not remember where or who wrote the comment on the Ryker wheel nut sockets. Lot's of stuff on Spyder Lovers. My excuse is old age - lol ! I checked prices on several websites for the 65 mm socket but $64.99 for FOUR sockets beats them all for just one 65 mm socket. No shipping involved either by picking up at TS store. I almost ordered the 65 mm socket and I would not have regretted it either since it is a necessary tool to do one's own work. Thanks for the reminder for the original socket comment author.

I found two of them at the NAPA stores $20 and $ 22 .... free pick-up at store ..... Mike

The torque spec is not 121 lb/ft, it's 221 lb/ft! I've had my wheels off a few times and I can tell ya, getting to 221 is a workout for an older "portly" gentleman like myself!

That's kinda why an impact drill is handy. I used to jump up and down on a three foot breaker bar and keep my fingers crossed nothing snapped - either on a bike or on me, eh.

Get a good one though - they're not all created equal. I went with a Porter Cable that was on sale. Good investment!

PS - last time I tightened my nuts, my voice went a lot higher ... wazzup wit dat?? ;-}
