• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Long distance travel recommendations with an F3L

I haven't done more than 400 mile round trips on either my RTL or the new F3T with a topcase. Looking for recommendations for a pack for the back seat, panniers and maybe the top case.
And any other travel recommendations.
Heading to Indianapolis the last week of September from SE Georgia. Had originally planned to put her in the toy hauler but... I've thought about doing a long bike trip for awhile and that's what retirement is for.
Thanks,
Pat

I used an Ortlieb Rack Pack like the one shown in the link below on a cross country bicycle trip that saw lots of rain and kept my gear perfectly dry. It is designed with straps to attach it to the passenger hand grips on an RT and I may use mine on my trip to Red Rocks, depending on how much stuff I take. Yes, if you use such a bag it has to come off each time you fuel up unless you have a gas door on the seat but it will add a total of two minutes max to each gas stop even if you have ten thumbs. The Rack Pack can serve as a back rest if you don't have one.

Pat you will enjoy the ride! I use a Bestem topcase and the front trunk, packing 2 backpacks. Keep in mind that my idea of roughing it is a Holiday Inn without room service. Also I bought all of the different bikes for riding and not on a trailering.

I agree. At 64 roughing it is long past. Camping means a soft bed in the travel trailer with clean sheets and the coffee maker set on the timer. I found a nice bag that I got with my Boulevard that will work fine. As long as the weather looks good I'll be on three headed North on the 27th.

It doesn't have to cone off on an F3, so it is easy peasy

Various bags & gear will help, not to mention good credit card with high limits :roflblack::roflblack:
also good to have a list of dealers & hotels along the way you intend to go. Just have list of phone numbers if something comes up. Highly suggest the "My Spyder" app made by a fellow Spyder lover, will help with the dealer list & give you idea of what to do if a code shows up. Your will need your vin number with the BRP roadside assistance number ( if u use) plenty hydration & rest stops, apply sunblock as needed. Enjoy :2thumbs:

nothing wrong with mailing home your used clothes to save space on way back.

Pannier bags

I have a 2016 F3 Limited and I really like the BRP soft pannier bags. They make for very convenient travel since they hold a lot of gear and make transitioning from bike to motel room very easy.

Grand tour Bag by Kuryakn, good straps, lumbar support, comes with a paddle lock and a rain cover for added protection.

I use a dry bag on the passenger seat and a top case off of Amazon and a Baker Air Wings rack. I'm currently on a cross country trip from Las Vegas to Lake George NY.IMG_3653.jpg
