There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. well went for a ride engine light came on check DPS and VSS failure
got it home found one of the brake lights where out would this cause limp mod
2012 RS SM5 763 miles on it not happy
also is there a easier way to replace bulb looks like i have to remove hole tail end ????

Do you have the BRP hitch installed? Mine did the same thing but it was caused by the belt rubbing on the trailer wiring. The wiring was not installed correctly and hung down, touching the belt.

Yes and yes.

Check with groundeffect. He has a 'how to' that he posted in regards to making it easier to change out those bulbs. Send him a PM, if he doesn't chime in.

Here is the post; it is #18:

Search for thread Break bulb win

I also read that if 2 bulbs go out it will go into limp mode

One taillight bulb out will cause limp mode and the post I showed above will show how to get to the bulbs out easier; thanks to groundeffect.

that is so stupid that it would render the bike just for 1 tail light out what where they think bike bulbs don't burn out LMAO

I had one brake light fail on my '09 GS SE5 last year during a Spyderfest group ride. The GS will not go into limp mode with just one brake light out but will with two. I saw the thread about cutting the plastic below the bulb earlier and did this mod before I left for Spyderfest. That thread saved my butt. When the gruop got back to Cowtown it took about 20 minutes to replace just using the standard tools in the tool kit.

Well I removed tail light I did cut the housing the way it should have came from factory.
also went to pepp boys and got the pilot 1157 L.E.D for $27.00 for the pair that has a built in load equalizer took if for a quick ride just before the rain came got back home check for code found no codes will post when get to take it for a longer ride I have to say nice L.E.D for the money I do have the Evo rake brake modular and it is operating correct

mastertek2000,

If I read the original post correctly, you had one taillight/brake light out and you mentioned limp mode. Then, I think you replaced one or both taillights/brake lights and then didn't get a limp mode.

If that's the case, then does one taillight/brake light out cause a limp mode or does it take two out?

That does appear to be the case but as I stated not sure it it is fixed only did a short ride was in a t shirt and rain at my back tire LOL hauling home

Well it finally stopped raining and i was able to take a ride one thing i will have to say it was temp was 47 when i left sure was happy i pay the extra $$$ for the heated seats from Corbin LOL the spyder does seam to be preforming great glad it was a easy fix thanks you all for your input greatly appreciated

on this post some say one light out will not throw limp mode,so make sure you know about the brak,if you just barely tuch it while riding you will be in limp mode,i know my foot was just tuching the side and limp mode.hope every thing is fine now.:chat:

mastertek2000,

I guess only a failed brake element on one taillight causes the limp mode and doesn't require the brake element on both taillights to fail to cause a limp mode?

I guess I could pull the panel above the rear tire on my spyder and pull the wires to the taillight on one side and see what happens.
