• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lift arm

Yep, it's my turn to replace the great and famous Canam lift arm on the windshield, and wouldn't you know it, some one has been there ahead of me!!!:banghead::banghead: The good thing is, I have a nice new arm from Noboots, from down under, and I have to say he is a craftsmen, what a nice job he did making my new part!! But when I got down to getting the shaft out of my bike, Oh no, looked at the set screw holding the gear on the shaft and the dam heads striped out!!!!! It's small and very flush with the end of that gear end. Well after about 30 mins, and my Dremel tool, I get a straight grove in the head, get a screw diver on that, and yup it snapped off flush with the shaft!!!!:yikes::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: So today, I have to ether get the rest of that screw out of the shaft, or go up one size and drill and tap a new one in,,,, any thing to $%^& a farmer!!! :chill: Well here we go!!!!

Is there so much gorillia snot on it that you can`t get it out? Can Am is famous for the zealous use of yellow loctite.
I have been very fortunate in that in 6 years and 68000 + ,I have never had one break, nor is it showing signs of failing. I do keep an eye on it and hope it continues in the same way.

Well that's what I thought also, I always rode with it always a little from the bottom, never all the way up or down, but it gave out the last ride that mom and I did, boy, after not having a windshield for 100 miles, it makes you like having one a lot, guess that's what old age dose to you!!!:roflblack: I got it today, all back together and loving that new arm!! I took the torch out and warmed up the end of the shaft enough to burn the Loctite out, then was able to just get a pair of plyers on the little tit that was out and backed it out! Then off to my best little hardware store in Maine, that was every kind of fasteners or buttons and knobs you would ever want and picked up a 1.50 x.45 screw! NoBoots arm is rock solid, that old arm must of been on it's last legs for awhile!!:2thumbs:

Heat helps. Hair dryer or limited use heat gun.

Yeah that is a pucker upper when that arm snaps.. :roflblack:

I could not stand the wind blowing on me coming home. Think your right about the age thing.

Mikey my proceedure is the same as yours, not far either way. I am sure I am in for a surprise one of these days. Thanks for your solution on the broken piece.

I check mine often, or too often, whichever. But it's still intact. Has anyone taken their's out and reinforced it before it breaks?

Yes, I think Blueknight has, I seem to remember reading that he took his broken arm out the wrapped and welded his up!! I could have done that, but when I say the arm that Noboots makes, it was kind of a no brainer! But if you can weld alum and want to take it out, I guess it would save you some money. you'd need a couple strips of flat bar to put on both sides then weld it up!!
