There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I'm getting to the point where I need to communicate with my passenger but do not want to give up my music and I'm finding it difficult to learn how all the features work.

I'm researching the Scala Rider Q2 for our full face helmets and have a few questions....Sorry if this thread is in the wrong spot, I didn't know where to put it.

Can A MP3 player be plugged in and Communicate with the passenger at the same time ????
Does the MP3 music cut out if either of us speaks into the mic ????

Can the GPS bluetooth deliver directions and communicate with passenger at the same time ????
Will the passenger hear the direction to ???

Phone and communicate with passenger at the same time ????? Answered No
If so, will the passenger hear my phone call ????------- Answered No

Does the wind noise constantly come through the Helmet speakers via the mic ????

Can any scala Q2 talk to us or is it just one headset linked at a time ???? ----Answered (3 total)

If so... Can the third rider be linked to to our headsets and we all talk at the same time to each other or do we have to switch to a seperate channel for the third headset ????

Is there better units out there with corded MP3 compatability for the price range of the Scala Rider Q2 ???

Wow..... I feel like a newbie here with all these questions , but I never learned about headsets and now I want them. :opps::opps:

We use the sena smh-10, the unit is works extremely well and is very simple to operated.. We had intercom conversation with another couple but only needed to link the rider units...

Great source of information on everything SCALA.

Know nothing about the Q2. Is it being phased out?

Happen to know where you can get a really good price on a pair of G9's NEW in the box. Ya get what ya pay for.

Hope this helps a little.

I checked those out, but it seems only to have bluetooth MP3 compatability..... I need to hook my MP3 up with a cord because it does not have bluetooth. I don't think those will work for what I need them to do. :dontknow:

The Sena headset has a plug to hook up wired devices like an non-bluetooth MP3 player.

All models or just certain ones???? I cant find where it mentions anything about a corded hook up on the shm5d model ???

Has anyone done this with a MP3 cord like I'm trying to do ???? If so, can you answer my first question on post one ???

I broke my 2 yr old sena that i used with a cord to my ipod :banghead: The new one i ordered is bluetooth :yikes:

I have the sena and when connected to MP3 player ( via cord) and bluetooth phone, the phone disconnects
the music and when you hang up, the music is back.
As to Passenger, the music and phone cannot be heard, therefore the passenger could bluetooth their own phone and cord the music.
However, I have not done so, if you were get a splitter and plugged it into your headset and cord then plug an extension to passenger headset, passenger would only hear your music.
When you toggle the Sena, you can connect to passenger to have communication However, I am not sure it cuts off the music as I have not tried it YET. You can communicate up to 4 headsets by the use of the toggle, not sure if all can hear or talk at the same time.

Thanks forest.

Just to clarify.... Are you saying it's music or passenger communication but not both at the same time without a manual toggle back and forth by turning a switch on the headset itself ???? Or does the music fade out when someone speaks and comes back on when they are finished speaking automaticlly ?????

I don't mind if my passenger has to hook up there own music with a seperate cord.

FYI - If you purchase SCALA, they have an exclusion in their warranty. Must be accompanied by 'sales receipt' / facsimile. Which some E Bayer's do not provide, and the same goes fo some on Amazon. tol

SMH5 or SMH10

The SMH5 does NOT have the wired ability the SMH10 is the correct unit
read on most people prefer the SENA they are the easiest most dependable
units out there

We have had two..!!

The scala "Team rider" and currently the G9. In both cases there is a priority system. If you have all hooked up( GPS, Mp3/radio, phone and intercom the phone overrides all then the GPS then the intercom. The only connection between helmets or rider to rider is the intercom. You can listen to your music but when you speak it opens the intercom. When you stop speaking the music returns. Passenger must have their own music but when they speak your music will be interrupted until your conversation stops. Then of course with the G9 you can also hook up with 8 other rider with the same equipment. Hope this helps...

Thanks............... this is what I needed to know

Does anyone know if the Sena SMH10 or the Scala Q2 is set up the same way ?????

Skip the Q2 and go with either the G4 or G9. I don't think you will be happy with the Q2s range or features.

I'm not too concerned about range of the Q2, but only if the music fades in and out when speaking to the passenger (like the G9 that Chupaca mentioned).

If it does, than thats the best bang for the buck(for my needs) out there since the sena smh5 does not have the cord feature.

If the music doesn't fade in and out on the Q2 than I will have to spend the extra money on either the G9 or the SMh10. If music does not fade in and out when speaking to passenger on the Smh10 like it does on the G9, than my decsion is a easy one........... G9 would be the only unit out there for my needs.
