• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Legless Spyder

Well I got disappointing news today that's going to keep me off my Spyder through the end of April. (It's been since early January!) The chromer cannot get a twelve inch section of one of my rims to take chrome. They are adding metal to the rim through an electrolysis process in hopes that this will strengthen the base characteristics and chrome will take. A hexavalent chrome alternative treatment may be next. If this doesn't work, it's a new wheel and starting over. And to think that before this project started, my wife asked me if I wanted to get a '14. I think I'll listen to her next time. ...Don

Wow..!!

Complicated..back in my day the only way was triple chrome. Copper plate, nickle plate and then chrome. Then they came up with the unichrome which did not last or wear well. Don't know the process now but if they have to build sections up your balancing may become a problem...:dontknow: Hope they git er done soon the weather is a changing...

Maybe you should have listened

You know the old saying .... Happy wife Happy life.

This is a show chrome shop that did my HD wheels 7 years ago. They've taken nine weeks to get it right. I'm not happy, but do appreciate them getting it right. As for the build-up, it's uniform.

Yep, should be on a '14 instead. ;) ...Don

P.S. I still have the HD as a back up.

I'm sorry to hear that this has you off the bike, and getting frustrated. :gaah:
My Grampa used to say, "Don't change horses in the middle of a stream" a lot; do you think that buying a set of chrome rims though EBay isn't a workable plan?

Thanks. The cost was comparable with wheels on EBay but the quality at this shop is a known. The problems are frustrating but I know the delay will be worth it. Besides, this project included having the side castings, floorboards, brake pedal, rider pegs, muffler caps, and driven sprocket chromed, too.

I'm definitely in mid stream and am going to follow your grandpa's advice. Thanks again, ...Don
