• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LED Lights

:spyder:Maybe someone can help me out with this. I purchased 2 LED tail light bulbs and when I installed them and turned on the key they worked but the bike is now in LIMP MODE and it shows a code # 155. Anyone have some advice?

Put your old bulbs back in, stability isn't the only thing the nanny watches. If a bulb burns out, you get to limp home. LED bulbs need an adapter to work in the Spyder, check NMN's stuff.

I am having a problem posting----don't know why ---but again.

Take a look at this site

http://www.hyperlites.com/unikits.html

I installed the yellow turn signal lights on my rearview mirror facing to the back. On the rear turn signals I installed the blinking red break lights.
No problem because it is not reducing the electrical flow. They are real attention getters.

Th CAN BUS system is hooked to the rear tail lights and will not allow the switch to low current LEDs.

We make "Plug and Play" lights for the rear to get around this. Our Triple Play kits and our soon to be available LED Tail light will all give you more light and no "Limp Home Mode" problems.

How about offering a parts list on how to change ALL of the stock lights to LED, including front and rear turn signal bulbs?
Or maybe a kit?
I want to change all, not have some of each.
Apologies if you are already working on this.

We already offer many LED options for the Spyder with the remaining areas to be covered by years end.

The Street Magic Triple Play featuring Genesis LEDs, and our Street Magic Genesis LED Turn Signal Upgrade Kit. :2thumbs:

We also offer an LED upgrade for the front fender tip lights. :doorag:

The new Street Magic Genesis LED Tail Light will be out later in Oct. :D

With our Street Magic Genesis fFont Mud Flap Lights and our Street Magic Genesis Front Turn Signals to be released by years end.

Once all these are released they will cover all the bulbs you can change on your Spyder.

The only bulbs you cannot touch on the Spyder are the stock tail light/brake light bulbs as they are a CAN BUS monitored system.

Thanks Magic,
I guess I'll have to leave the stock lights as is until you or someone else figures out some kind of gizmo to make the CAN/BUS system think the LEDs are stock, as I said, I don't want a mix of incandescent and LEDs on my Spyder:mad:

Yeah, LEDs are bright, draw low current, handle high vibration levels and last a long time and are just cool to have on a vehicle.

I personally prefer the incandescent bulbs where they are, and then add extra lighting with LEDs.

My reason is that an LED is very direction-when a cager is at an angle to you, they will not see them no matter how bright. Even the best LED taillight only has 100-120 degrees of dispersion/spread (+-50 from center line), versus 300 degrees with filament incandescents bulbs and reflector. It is not just the intensity of the light but the spread of the light that is important and what gets people attention.

Most LED's are not created equal, some even only have 5 degrees of spread, which is why they are only $4.99. So when I add LED lighting, I need to know the angle of dispersion of the LEDs. Then I know I am getting the best visibility that the technology has to offer for my money and safety.

If LED assembly is not at least 100 degrees of light spread then I don't want it at any price.

Two of the leaders in the field are:Custom Dynamics and Radiantz check them out.

Just my $.02

Was at Thunder Beach in Panama City and spoke with a vendor about installing led effect lighting on my :spyder:. The name of the company was Cosmic LEDs of Atlanta, GA. They had never done any lighting work on a :spyder:. But said they new MM and had seen his :spyder:. They gave me a price and lit up my Silver :spyder:with blue accent lighting. Orininally told me the would probably use about 200 lights but after all was done they installed 413 lights and the effect is great. Really make my :spyder:visual impact pop. They installed all the extra lights for no extra charge over my original estimate. Will get pic soon and post. :2thumbs:

My spyder burned out a tail light bulb on the very first time I rode it. But I did not expierence or have it go to limp mode. Everything stayed the same. I just put an 1157 bulb in and it works fine.

Take both out and watch what happens!
