Looking at this tire as a replacement for the OEM front tires on my 14 RT-L when the time comes. It has a UTOG of 440 AA A and a T speed rating. Anyone installed this tire on a 13 or 14 RT? If so I'd be interested in your thoughts on how it fit within the front fenders, it's ryde characteristics, etc. Thanks SLs!

Guess no one has put the subject tire on their 13 or 14 RT. So, here is another question...what's your thoughts on putting this size tire on the front wheels of a 14 RT?

I would!
I'm surprised that Docdoru hasn't been testing them on the front-end of his Silver Dream. The aero-drag should be improved...

I'm interested too. That would be my choice of replacement tire, but I'm nowhere near ready to do it yet.

I HAVE

I HAVE THE 14" SIZE ON MY '09 RS, for 30,000+ miles and the are showing very little wear at this point.....

as you can see, you may need to use a couple plastice wedges to more the fender out of the way when mounting....

John Heiser you need to be the guinea pig on this one!

I did a search and I think Mooseman put the 155/60r15 Kumho Solus on his Spyder. If I'm correct then he was the guinea pig already. BTW he likes them! Gonna take my Spyder by a local tire store for them to hopefully tell me what's going on with my front tires. I'm feeling high edges on the inside and outside tread on both tires. Might be nothing to be concerned with since both tires are wearing the same, but ...

Here is the thread that includes Mooseman's posts about the Solus 155/60R15

rear tires

Where can I get Kumho 225/50-R15 ? I called tire rack and they don't have any, also none anywhere in Wichita ks. I have 8,200 miles on mine and it is bald. I have a michelin 215/60-R15 but the dealer in wichita told me that it would screw up the computer tack and speedometer .

Your dealer in Wichita is a great liar. I have a Michelin HydroEdge 215-60/R15 on my Spyder and no problem with any computers, sensors, speedometer or odometer... More, this size made the spped read on the speedometer match the speed read on the GPS.

Rode my Spyder to two different tire stores and one Can Am dealer to have my front tires checked out.

All three said my tires were cupping.

First tire store said once they start cupping they will continue to cup...re-balancing will not stop the wear. Gentleman recommended I continue ryding on them until they wear out. Told him I was ryding to NY next month and he suggested I replace them before making the trip.

Second tire store said if I wasn't getting any shaking or vibrations then to ryde them until they wear out.

Can Am dealer technician said unfortunately the cupping is something they are seeing quite often on the 14 RT tires. He said BRP changed the tread pattern on the 14 tires and that they wear this way...not good but not unusual for the 14 RT. He also recommended I ryde them until they wear out since I wasn't experiencing any vibration.

Decided to replace them. Ordered two Kumho Solus KH16 155/60r15 tires. They will be delivered tomorrow and I'll have them installed and road force balanced. Total cost for tires, 6% VA tax, mounting, and road force balancing ~ $176.

:congrats: Please let us know how you like them.

Thanks Bob. I will definitely post my thoughts about them. If the plan comes together I will be putting a couple hundred miles on them this Saturday!

I already replaced my rear tire with a Kumho. Once I get the Solus' mounted on the front I'll have the Kumho brand all around.

I just mounted my 2nd one on the rear of my '08 GS. Good luck finding the tire...there are still some out there, but I was told by several tire dealers (Tirerack.com, Big O, America's Tire) as well as Kumho themselves that the tire is discontinued. They can still fairly readily be gotten, but stock is limited to what is already manufactured.
If you went to the Kumho website (http://www.kumhousa.com/tire/find) you will not be able to locate the tire any longer. It is a great tire, but i'm afraid I will need another choice (maybe the Falken) after this one wears out.

I used the Falken on my 08 and thought it was a really good tire. However. There have been some previous complaints that it does not handle the wet very well. I did not have that complaint, but I did think it wore out a little too quickly. I only got about 15k miles on it. Much better than the Kenda, but still not as good as other brands.

Solus' mounted, road force balanced, and installed this morning. Went for a short (115 miles) test ryde this afternoon. All I can say is WOW, double WOW! Love these tires. They are smooth ryding and hold the road as good if not better than the OEM Kenda "motorcycle" tires. Rode some of my favorite twisty roads at 64 MPH which is 2 MPH faster than my typical speed on these roads and the Spyder handled beautifully. Don't know how the Solus' will handle wet roads but suspect they will do very well considering they have a AA wet traction UTOG rating.

Now for the best part. My bike has always slightly pulled/drifted to the right even after getting the ROLO/Outlaw laser alignment twice. Once at a dealer (not so good) and once by Squared Away (very, very good). I am happy to report that my Spyder no longer pulls/drifts to the right. I was able to let go of the bars and she ran straight as an arrow. So it is obvious to me that the pull/drift was caused by the OEM Kenda tires.

I'm running 20 PSI (same pressure I was running in the Kendas) in both front tires and I like the ryde. NOTE: I am/have been using JT's equal pressure thingy so I know the pressure is equal in both tires.

Based on this 115 mile test ryde I give the Kumho Solus KH16, 155/60R15 :2thumbs:, and I'm happy, happy, happy.
