• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a Utopia Backrest for my 2008 GS, but ran into a problem with having enough room for my wife to comfortably fit between her backrest (the BRP backrest) and my new Utopia Backrest, even though she is really quite small only about 138 lbs. She said she would hit the upright bracket that comes thru the seat for the backrest when hitting bumps in the road. I thought of an idea to add a couple of inches more room for her but could not find exactly what I needed locally to accomplish this. I contacted Bob at Utopia and explained my problem and the soloution that I had thought of. He wasn't sure that it work since the bracket would still be coming up thru the seat at the same location but was willing to make the bracket for me to see if it would work. Instead he made 2 brackets and sent them to me at his cost and I believe that either will work. I am now trying to come up with a pad or beads to put on the seat to raise my wife up a little higher above that bracket that comes up thru the seat. We have been able to try the parts that he made and it does give my wife 2" more room and seems to have solved our problem. I really appreciate Utopia for going the extra mile to help us out and be willing to make those parts for me. That is true customer service at it's best!!!:2thumbs:

Geat idear and well done Utopia for giving it a go

I have the Utopia Backrest fitted to my Spyder RT-S SE5 2010 model - I have the OEM Seat fitted and have no issues ref passenger
space - I understand the BRP Comfort seat puts the driver 2" further back So this bracket may be useful to bring the backrest
back to its normal position if drivers need it

Hi Mike,
Here are some more pics. of the bracket that Bob at Utopia made for me. I finally decided on the bracket on the right in the pic. because it locks the upright in place with the top piece of the bracket. I tried the other one and thought it was going to be all right by tightening the bolt up as much as possible but found that it would tilt back if I put too much pressure on it with my back. We went for a total of about 240 miles between yesterday and today since the rain has washed all the salt off the roads and the temp. was about 71 degs. for the whole ride today, it was beautiful and the bracket really did the trick to give my wife enough room. I put a folded up shirt on her seat just to show where we will be putting a gel pad that I ordered today to get her up high enough over the bracket and give some soft material there also. Again I really appreciate the cooperation I got from Utopia to help solve this problem!!:ohyea:

Bob's a great guy. Glad he was able to give you what you needed. I wouldn't be surprised if he adds it as an option on his site.

Ya Mike your're exactly right, moving it forward like that was enough to give her more room.
