• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Note to self: Never get into farming.
Yep, the screwdriver worked on the top spring too.
Those clamps were purchased at a local auto parts store, the chains didn't have them. Less than $5 each. They come in various sizes, so you need to measure the diameters of the pipes. I had to drill to correct the alignment of the holes.

~~~~your comment about farming I’m guessing you linked me damaging my finger to that line of work. I suppose in a way you’re correct Ric. How it happened, our carpenter & I were moving a half dozen triple breeding units for my wife. She’s an avian hobby breeder and so Nick and I had assembled these breeding cages on wheels then transported them from one barn to another. Well, walking these units through this one pole barn there was a doorway we had to go through. I walked the front of each cage leading the way backwards (walking backwards). We did alright with the first five but the last one I\for some reason I had my right hand on the front corner of the cage instead of keeping both hands away from the out side corners. Anyways the ring finger on the right hand got smashed into the doorway as we were bring the last cage through there. Funny thing was, it didn’t hurt much when it happened but I knew there was going to be a lingering damage. I waited almost a week before I went to our orthopedic’s office to get an x-ray and an opinion. The Dr. that did my left robotic knee replacement in early 2018 checked it out and told me I severed the tendon that hooked up to the last finger joint, plus broke a bone in two spots. He referred me to his partner that does hand surgeries and luckily, I got an appointment to get the necessary surgery that Friday
The bummer of all this is how long its going to take to heal. I was told my next appointment for a look see is the 14th of this month (roughly a week from today) at which time they’ll schedule me for surgery in 4 weeks to remove the two pins that were inserted. After the pins are removed the PA told me it will be another 8 weeks before I can start my rehab to get that finger working correctly again. I’m just glad I have access to good medical care. I have complete faith in these two surgeons. They’ve not only worked on me before but also did successful surgery on one of my wife’s knees
Shakin__Jake,
Here's an Amazon link to the type I used. You can see they are made of several layers and the bolt holes are punched with the piece. That's why the holes don't align well and I needed to drill so the bolt can slide in. I bought mine at a local part store for half of Amazon's price.
Another brand is Nickson, that's the one I used. The P/N is 17177.
https://www.amazon.com/Walker-31884...refix=exhaust+manifold+clamps,aps,226&sr=8-44
Here's the Nickson version. I paid less that a third of Amazon's price. Amazon pulled the old dope peddler's trick - get 'em hooked, then raise the prices.
~~~~thanks for the links Ric! I now know where to buy these parts if I need them to finish this job. Ill say this in Amazon’s defense - Yes!, they are often pricey when it comes to buying items you can pickup for less elsewhere yet in our instance where we live in a rural area, sometimes its not worth my time to drive or ride into town to save a few bucks. Having the option of a retailer throwing a box over our gate is worth gold to me in a lot of instances but,there are times I need to get to town so if I can combine a few trips, then its worth making the drive/ride

To better understand, your actual muffler on the side of the Spyder has a swivel type ball coupling also. They use the swivel setup to prevent having the exhaust rigid preventing it to move slightly as needed.

If you go to your Spyder, as it sits right now, use your good hand and pull the muffler away from the Spyder, you will see the swivel move, pretty basic I know. As you can possibly see, utilizing the swivel, you could stretch a spring via simple leverage, and shorten an opposite spring, making it much easier to remove or install. Granted the muffler does not utilize springs, but the bypass pipe does so it easily floats to align.

Regardless, all the best in accomplishing the task. If you were a bunch closer than 3 1/2 hours North of me, I would offer a bit of help to get your setup installed.

~~~wouldn’t you know it, twice I went to get on my Spyder with the intention to grab the muffler as you suggested but dang it all anyways, I forgot both times then when I remembered what you said, the pipe was too hot to handle and I didn’t have a rag handy to keep from burning myself. I’ll take your word for it nonetheless, and will eventually grab and shake when its cold. I not only live two and a half hours north of you now, I used to live two and a half hours south of you back when Helen & I used to live in the lower Fla. Keys. Thank you for the offer to help me with this just the same. If you’re ever traveling through this way going north, let me know a day in advance and perhaps you can stop by for an espresso. I roast my own coffee greens and pull a good shot.
