• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

key reflashing/programming

Has anyone had a spyder key reprogrammed and was it covered under warranty?

Neither of my keys has any physical damage. They both work; but, with one of the keys a second press of the 'M' button is required once the engine has started, due to the scrolling message returning. The other key (which hasn't been used in quite awhile) works fine; at least it has for the past couple days.

I posted another thread with the problem of the scrolling message and followed the advice given. So, I won't go into that here.

It tells how to do this in the 'shop manual'. Unfortunately, I am at work with a newly cut CanAm blank in my pocket. Will post later after I read the procedure.

I just checked the shop manual and I can't do it. Besides one working key, you need master key p/n 529 036 106, which is uncut.

Some dealers will program a new key for you for a big $$ charge, but a few dealers will do it as a favor. It only takes a minute to do but requires the master key and maybe BUDs?.

I doubt you will get by with merely reprogramming the key. Sounds like a flaky key chip or bad security module. Time to see the dealer. He'll probably scratch his head over this one and have to get advice from BRP.

Scotty, if you see this...

BRP is having my dealer change the gauge cluster. That security module isn't within the gauge cluster, is it?

I guess tomorrow I'll mention the spare key worked for 5 days, a couple times each day, and when I switched back to the orinal key today the scrolling message appeared after the engine started.

Of course who is to say the spare key would continue to work. :dontknow:

No the security module is not within the cluster. Be sure and record the mileage and date when you drop off your Spyder at the dealer (a digital camera works well for this). The new cluster will revert to zero. Gotta trust the dealer on this. I suspect that they had to contact BRP for some answers.
