There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Just picked up my new '11 RTS - anybody found a deal on Insurance?

Hello Forum Faithful. I just bought my new Spyder and couldn't be happier. I've been reading the forum for about a month now and have learned quite a bit already! I do have a quick question - has anybody found a decent deal on insurance? I was quite surprised to find out my premium tripled from the bike I just traded in for my Spyder. My current premium is close to $900 per year....ouch!! Any help would be much appreciated!

Many variables will affect your premium. This year Progressive gave me the best deal...$324 annual with $1000 deductible and uninsured motorist...Had American last year but they jumped premium to $410...
So my recommendation is start shopping....no rhyme or reason to how they get premiums...
Welcome to Spyderlovers...

Foremost thru AARP here in Michigan...Just changed my coverage amount due to the change in helmet law...now covered for 1 Mil....500k....1 Mil, $500 deductible...full coverage....$620 annual due to the higher coverage...Was paying $410 previously...

:congrats: & :welcome:

I was quoted about the same from Allstate so I changed everything (home, cars and bikes) to Liberty mutual and was able to drop to $360 a year for 2011 RT LTD and my 2003 BMW K1200LT as well as save on everything else! Call around!

Welcome SpyderLover ! Congrats on your new Spyder. When you do find an insurance Co. make sure you are quoted on the same coverage that you had before so you are comparing apples to apples .I pay just shy of 900 for my RTS and trailer .

I have Foremost $ 220 a yr. but I live in Vt. So I don't think it's typical. Mike

Congratulations

I switched from foremost to Allstate - saved about $50 bucks a year . foremost didn't even counter offer to keep me . All my other coverages , home and auto are with Allstate so I get discounts . I pay $514 a year - its like $43 a month .

I have full coverage $50000 - $100000 and $25000 property with a $250 deductible and $1000 in accessories coverage .

:welcome: There are way too many variables for any of the aforementioned premiums to have any real significance for your specific situation.
Location
Age
Marital Status
Motorcycling experience
Driving Record
Coverage amounts desired or required
Even credit ratings are being used as tools by the companies to decide jsut how much it'll hurt when it's time to "Pay The Piper"

And I might have even missed a couple of them; it's Monday morning... ;)
I'd suggest that you contact an Independent Agent who can take some time and sit with you for a while to determine what coverages you need, and then shop it around to see what sort of policies they can bring to the table for you. Good Luck!
Oh... American Modern Home: $505 per year 100/300/100 liability $500 Deductibles for Comprehensive and Collision. But it's gonna change... :yikes:

Bob D and I usually have pretty much the same opinion. Rates will vary due to your driving history. I use one isurance agent for everything rather than going national or internet. When I have a problem, I like to pick up the phone and talk with the agent who knows me.

I use State Farm for my home, auto and current two motorchcles. My Spyder runs me $672 a year or $56 per month for full coverage.

For those using Foremost because they are linked with AARP. Call a Foremost agent direct! I did, she saved me $$ over the "AARP" discount price. Foremost has to pay a fee to AARP when you go thru them. Local agents don't have to pay those fees!!!! Tom

Thanks everyone for the replies and the welcomes! I need to do some homework on insurance for sure. Really looking forward to being a part of this forum.
