• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just my luck

Hello all I have been a long long time lurker since back when all the rage was a P.E edition or the new phantom coming out, now I am finally in the position to purchase and I feel like so overwhelmed. I finally found the bike I wanted ( 2012 rs-s se5) at the price i wanted
($15,000 otd ) from an out of state dealership only to be informed by a different dealer that it would be easier to chew off my own arm then to register this bike, because of the country of California's emission codes they won't allow me to register without a hassle. I read every day I know the problems with the 2013's http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/smilies/bbq.gif are there any suggestions ? Any way to find the bike I'm looking for any inside information on California dealers that might have leftovers ? Ty u all for the great information as soon as I'm official I will be signing up for spyders to the rescue.

P.S sorry about the horrible grammar

YES.....

Hi Well here is the info you need.... NEVER NEVER EVER:lecturef_smilie:
buy any vehicle from an out of state dealer or private party
(late model) and try to go to DMV for your plates... it will never happen
unless the Mfg. label clearly says " california legal" or 50 state legal
if it does not you can not register it in California. I learned the hard way
Got a killer deal on a Harley out of state 2006 mod. no tag saying 50 state
DMV said to bad take it back to the state you got it and sell it or move there.
Go to DMV Monday and find out for your self....
15K you can do that here in the state. not that hard to find.
Good Luck
Dave

Today

Dave, thank u for the heads up spyder lovers always have the inside info. Today I was told that 2012 spyders have the 50 states stickes but they also have a sticker specifically for California, my question is will a bike will the 50 states sticker be enough to pass emissions ?

As long as it says 50 state on the label it should be OK
if you are a AAA member go to the AAA office and ask
betted yet take a picture of label with your phone and
show it to them... you will know for sure then.
there was a 2012 mod. at the dealer in Lodi like you were
looking at for under 15K

Give that dealer in Lodi a call, I've heard good things about them. You could save yourself the headache of dealing with the out of state machine. Good luck.

Thank you all !!!

I truly mean thank you. I got the news about the spyder emissions code early today and I just got sad, i ate and went to sleep. I slept the day away woke up and accepted the fact I needed to ask for help. To the rescue came spyder lovers. This site makes dealing with all the other useless crap on the Internet worth it. I will be calling Lodi in the A.M.

I believe a 50 state emission sticker would include Ca.

Quote from Ca. DMV.....Not all new vehicles are manufactured to be sold in California residents or businesses. Many manufacturers make vehicles to be sold in the other 49 states. These vehicles (49-State) are made with smog equipment that meets federal emission standards, but not California standards. California certified (50-State) vehicles are made to be sold to California residents.

Or you can buy a used one with 7500 miles or more to bring in IIRC.

Best to go to the CA. DMV website.
