• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just moved up to a RT from a GS, some things I noticed...

I recently purchased a 2012 RTS from a fellow Spyderlover here. Very different ride than my '08 GS. Some things I noticed:

-Gearing seems to be different, perhaps taller? I'm having to adjust my shifting times.

-Headlights, or lack thereof. Considering all the lights on the front, the low beams have surprisingly little reach.

-Speaking of lights, could use some on the sides. Not much light there @ night.

-Air compressor noise. I assume this is normal, but really took my by surprise when I first heard it.

-Turn signal switch sucks compared to the one on my GS. Very easy to press left or right instead of cancelling the signal.

Anything else I need to be aware of coming from the GS? May sound like I am complaining, but I LOVE the RT. So smooth and comfortable!

Congrats..!!

looks like you are transitioning just fine. All those things are normal adjustments you have to make. The upright position is one as well. Sounds like you are enjoying the change...must have been ready...:roflblack:

Yeah, I am loving the RT. One thing I have noticed, is that the air compressor runs a lot more with a passenger on board. I would think it would inflate the suspension to match the weight, and be done.

I did some "Switching & Swapping" with a GS rider once... He commented that the RT felt more like a station wagon, while his GS was more like a Mustang...
I like the feel of his GS; everything happened just a little bit "quicker"...
...And his Hindle exhaust, sounded righteous!

The air compressor is always adjusting for ride height. As temperatures change; pressures change, so it's always working hard for you! :ohyea:

It should. If it does not quit and keeps coming back on, you have an air leak in the suspension system to get fixed.

There is a difference when moving on to the RT. I put 23,500 miles on my GS before moving on to the RT flavor. Now am on my third RT and this one the three cylinder. That was also a big changeover.

It sounds like you are acclimating to the RT. Once you get all the quirks figured out, I am guessing you will be a happy camper.

:congrats: on your 2012--The best of the 998 RT's.

Going to move this to the RT Shoptalk forum from here on out, as I need to troubleshoot the compressor issue more...
