• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just an Observation

I'm just curious as to why so many old posts keep getting dredged-up and treated as though they are a new topic. I wonder if it's just cabin fever from being cooped-up all winter. I keep seeing things that are several months old popping back up and old replies that I made. I'm not the one doing the digging-up these old posts but I am curious as to why they keep popping up. Not trying to start any trouble or shake anything up. Maybe people are bored, who knows??

Members sometime do a search to find what they are looking for, and then they decide to add to the old post.

Have to agree..!!

some are many years old but are to the point. It is easier to post to that exsisting one than start a new one. Just have to scroll to the end to see whats new about it...

:agree: Also, newbies will explore the boards and find something they can identify with and comment on it.

I guess this could be me, I've only been a member here about six months but there Is so much to be learned here, I've went back and read hundreds of old posts, I'm trying to learn everything about these great machines that I can..

I do it on purpose so I make others including the OP angry.......................:roflblack::roflblack:

Hey, let's give those guys who dredge old posts some credit! At least they're searching and reading! Ain't the failure to do that one of the chief complaints by old timers here? :banghead:

From a newbie its combination of to much snow and a lot of time to research , today is the first day in 3 weeks it is above freezing

I have seen a lot of new people who have been surfing the site answer something that seems appropriate or piques their interest. Some of these older posts go back to 2010 or so. They don't notice the date, which is easy to do. Been there before a few times also.

Also, a search for a particular subject brings back some of the good stuff--even though it is a dated post.

Sometimes, reading history can be fun--IMO of course. :roflblack::roflblack:

In the internet world isn't anyone who's been around more than 6 months an old timer, even if they're only 25 years of age?? I guess I'm an antique. I've been on computers for 50 years, on the internet for 13 years, and will be 71 by summer solstice. If the word Hollerith means anything to you, you too are antique, not just an old timer!!! :roflblack:

I'm a newby here but antique as to age. New to Spyders and Spyderlovers forum.

Old posts get resurrected because of the old timers on the forums reactions:
1) If I post a duplicate of a previous answered question, well...:yikes:
2) Now I find if I dredge up an old post, well...:yikes:

Not complaining just observing. I do appreciate the lack of bickering on this site compared to other 'trike' sites.
Above observations were experience from the other site.

So I'm guessing you also know what at Bistable flip flop is, not to mention a full or half adder.

I only had a passing knowledge of Hollerith cards. When I first started computer studies at school we had to write our code on coding sheets and then type it in on a punch card machine. The cards were sent off to the local University and two weeks later we'd get a print out of the result or, if you were unfortunate, just the word ERROR. About mid-way through the year the school got two Commodore Pets - at the time they seemed incredible.

Any sorry about that - back to the world of Spyders:-)

On the VTXOA board, 'Chicago Spike' (a moderator) ALWAYS said "Use The Search Function" to check for previous posts on the subject. Well, being a person of low 'intelligence,' he apparently did not realize that new information could be available since the last post. Providing a new post allowed the new post to elicit new information. He's an ignorant putz. But, he is a moderator - - - - -

You got me there! I've read about flip flops and adders but never had to become intimately familiar with them. The closest I ever got was a programming language for a CAD system running on a PDP-11 that required the use of pop and push, and I don't remember what else.
