• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

juice box is the culprit, according to BRP...

As expected, BRP is blaming aftermarket products which is probably true to some point i guess. when i got mine done it was farting like hell. it still pops a little but far far less. for those with juicebox, are you able to eliminate the popping completely with adjustment? i may go that way if so and anybody with se5 that has juice box? how's is accelerating off the line? it looks like power commander has more things to worry about than building one for spyder...

SPYDER DPS RECALL UPDATE
It has been one month since the official launch of the safety recall for the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) of the Can-AmTM SpyderTM roadster and we wish to thank the approximately 6,000 Spyder owners who, to date, have taken the time to have this recall completed.
The campaign has been very successful to date, and we have no reports of any significant steering problems after completion of the software download; however, we do have a few reports of vehicles running rough (i.e. RPM's surging) that we are currently investigating. Although we have only just started to investigate these reports, early indications are that these issues are related to some combination of "juice boxes" (JB's) or similar performance modification electronics, aftermarket air filters and/or aftermarket exhausts; but this is speculative at best and will wait for the outcome of our analysis to conclude anything. In any case, please do not postpone the completion of the safety recall based on the reports of a limited number of vehicles; and trust that we will address this as quickly as possible.
If you have any questions regarding the above and/or the safety campaign in general, please do not hesitate to call BRP at 1-866-767-0707 or email at [email protected]. This dedicated toll free line is open between 8 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Thursday, and from 8 to 9.30 AM and 10.30 AM to 5.30 PM on Friday, Eastern Standard Time.
We will keep you informed on the outcome of our investigations and wish to thank you for your participation in the Can-Am Spyder community.

Our Spyder is completely stock when it comes to mechanical or electrical. It cleared up as we drove more miles. We have about 3000 miles since our update was done on our journey and all the spastic rabbits have gone from the engine. So, from our experience, just RIDE and put more miles on the update and yours may clear up also. Patience!

Yea that is typical but i don't have a juice box and i don't have any aftermarket exhaust unless they consider the Hindle aftermarket. But this issue only seems to happen when its extremely hot/humid outside.

That is totally ludicrous. The JB is the fix not the cause of the problems.
Whoever wrote that must not have a clue.nojoke

I am noticing this too. The more mile I put on the :f_spider: since the update the better it is running. Still have a little surging at 3800-4200 rpm 4-5 gears but seems to be diminishing with time. We are also having cooler weather and lower humiidity the last couple of days so not sure how much this is also helping.

Don't let the bolded sections get in the way of a good hissy fit...

I've only got about 1K on the Spyder since the update. I know, I've been slacking off. My excuse is that it's been hot and my allergies are over the roof.

Anyway, I don't experience "surges". I feel these sporadic hesitations. I haven't been observant enough to tell at what RPM this occurs. These hesitations just come in clusters where there will be a quick four or five, then the motor smooths out. Today was cooler ie 80's not 90's. Still had the hesitations.

One of the things that makes analysis difficult is that most of my ryding since the update has been 2 up with my husband on the back. I ryde the Spyder a bit less aggressively with a passenger with me. Maybe it just need to take it out and just let her rip!

I also have the Hindle on it with no other engine mods. Guess I'll just be watching what BRP does on this just like everyone else.

I took my straw out of my juice box stuck it in my wiffle valve and everthing is fixed wait a minute I don't have a juice box.
And my Hindle is made for BRP :helpsmilie::gaah:

Got K&N handling the front end, JB in the middle and Yoshimura at the back end. Everything was working good BEFORE the update and it's working even better after.

None of this fits with BRP's statement but it sure is working good for me!

My Spyder was running lean with the front and back mods. That's why I got Mr. JB. He was supposed to help the front and back work better in the middle.

Mr. JB helped but I was thinking I was still a bit lean. I think the update richened me up just a bit more and now everyone is very happy!

I totally agree...I just got my update and the bike runs fine...I have the JB but I did turn it 'off' for the update...regardless, the JB allows us to fine tune any fuel/O2 issue...this certainly makes the bike more responsive and run better.

Time will tell but the JB is quite handy for a bunch of reasons!

After taking a 300 mile ride just after the update without the JB I ran into the same problem a lot are seeing, sputtering:gaah: coming about 250 miles into it at low speed and low gears. Now after I reinstalled my JB I was hoping the problem would be cured but ran into the same thing, ran good for the first 250 miles then slowing down to pass through a small town the engine sputtered badly.[Hindle Evol. filter,JB same settings as Lamont has posted].I hope BRP gets that next patch to the software out quickly. It also seemed to happen when the bike was running hottest under load [temps. were hot and humid].

Same exact with me. I even did the battery reset thing, but same issues.
Wife has the SE5 Spyder and she says NO WAY for this update, lol.
I only did it on mine as I kept getting the DPS scroll and check engine light, even after adding the foam trick to the relay box. The dealership said this would fix it and guess what....NOT. Still have that issue, and now new ones, sheez!

Maybe you need a new DPS - you might want to try another dealer.

:agree: That is a pretty big jump to "juice box is the culprit, according to BRP"

There was a lot of bashing going on because they were not making a statement, then, when they do, people don't take time to read it or just call them liars. On a similar subject the other day, DocHands summed it up: "So basically sometimes this forum is a townhall meeting on healthcare reform. LOL"

So true.

Fair points...we will all have to sit back and wait...just like with other topics, many will speculate...but that's all it is.

I feel lucky that my update went fine...I'm sure my dealership didn't do anything different than any of the others. I have the JB, hindle, and green filter...so, it might be more likely that I would have a problem...but, that wasn't the case.

Geez, I rode 1.5 hours in crazy thunderstorms on the way home and the bike ran great! Oh, the VSC system works fine...I hydroplaned once and the bike took over and corrected itself...very cool...our bike is quite safe in the rain, even when buckets are coming down and there's an inch of water coating the road...
