• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

JBL amp finally installed and working!

I got a JBL MS-A1004 4ch 400w amp. Wired it all up with 8gauge power and 16guage wires from the speakers. Even 16 guage wires from the radio output leads (Speaker level only).

You may have seen my other thread were I had some difficulty getting it to work. Well, it really had to do with settings on the AMP and dumbing down the factory radio settings. Set the Bass and Treble on the dask to zero. Set the fader to center. On the AMP set the sensor for turn on to OFF. Why? It wouldnt let the amp turn off. The AMP also comes with a remote turn on. Connected that to a nearby switched twelve volt positive lead that goes to a powerlet outlet used for my XM Radio.

I also found I had blown the woofer part of the two polk audio rear speakers. So those will need to be replaced. The AMP also needed proper settings of the Digital Signal Processor. I will be trying on the road tomorrow. reports to follow.

Mounting... Well right now I have it just sitting on the rear trunk. I need to see if the amp gets hot. The ideal place to mount will be up against the rear seat in the rear trunk. The AMP is only 2.7" x 7x8 or so. It will fit nicely.

Thats good to hear !!!! Sorry I was MIA this weekend I was not feeling to hot and with all this wonderful weather we were having ALl I got to do was take my spyder to the dealer for service then back home :opps:

Here are my initial results from today.

The sound is MUCH better. Not perfect. I think several things factored into the nont perfect score.
1- Only the tweeters are working on my rear Polk's. The main speaker baffle seems kaput.
2- The begining of the low end, all of the midrange and high end sound is great, but when songs come on that use the low end and big bass, the sound gets crappy at higher volumes. (Plus I am going 75mph).
3- Sound doesnt travel well at 75mph. in an open bike.

I have some ideas that I will float hear to get a gauge on if I should implement them;
I could build a custom speaker housing for the FRONT's replacing the and covering the stock cavity. This will involve foam, custom fiberglass and trial and error in fit and finish.
I could build a custom speaker housing for the REAR speakers and fit some bit 6x9's and re-mold the left and right rear housings with fiberglass.

Basically replace all the speakers (again!) with 100w 6" or 6x9's.
Now that I have the AMP to drive them, Its a matter of building the housing.

I could go to local AutoSound company, but they may change a lot.
thought? ideas?
