• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

J&M JMCB-2003-CASPY Installed

I spent a good part of the day installing the J&M CB radio for the Spyder on my wife's '08 today. Other than wasting a ton of time looking for the various little bits & pieces I kept dropping into the black hole (Spyder with almost no body panels), it went well. Haven't heard it yet because I haven't installed a headset into her new helmet. Our old helmets and headsets are for our Goldwing, so they won't work with this or my RT, when it's CB/Intercom unit finally arrives. I'll have a friend with an SWR meter make the proper adjustments, if needed to maximize her radio.

I hope to get the headset installed tomorrow morning before church so we can ride afterwards, allowing her to listen to her iPod through the system. We'll also be able to test the CB since I'll be on the Goldwing, which has one already.

My RT's saddle is still away having a driver's backrest designed & installed by Bob, of Utopia Backrests, so I'll not be riding it until next weekend. I can hardly wait!

Mark, the Gold Wing head sets will work. All you need to do is get a different lower cord. I know this because I installed the JMCB on my wifes 09. The new lower cord is 6 pin on the din plug and 8 pin on the "D" shaped end to the upper cord at the headset. Same cord used for BMWs.
Now I do have the Deluxe headsets ***584:2thumbs:

Thanks, I was aware of that, but we bought new helmets recently, so decided to go with new 584 headsets too.

We have EdSets headsets in out Goldwing helmets. While I assume we could get different down cords for them to do what we want, I haven't checked into it yet. I may, if this new helmet doesn't work out for my wife.

By the way, we rode a couple of hours yesterday & the headset & CB worked great. She's a new rider with only about 2000 miles, so it really is a help for her to be able to talk with me.

Actually, the goldwing headset will not work correctly. The Goldwing mic is not "active" so although you can hear through the headset when you talk it has a very low volume level. The BMW headsets use an active mic that works properly with the J&M unit.
