• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installed my Federal Formoza's on the front of the RT along with Lamont's Wheel Balancer's and boy howdy what a difference. Now I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. If you are on the fence about replacing your tires, just do it. Very easy install on both.

Getting the rear tire replaced next week with my Yokohama

I just got my mounted today! Haven't ridden it yet but I can tell you I know it is going to be awesome! The weight needed to balance the Federal's was less than one third the amount the crappy Kenda's required! (.5oz on one and .75oz on the other!) Even with the Centramatic Balancers, the Kenda's wouldn't run smooth! I can't believe just how crappy the Kenda's are and that Can Am is still using them! And balancing is not the only problem with them. They are def sub-standard in the "performance" and general drive-ability depts too! Mine has pulled to the right from day one, even after a laser alignment and felt like I had no DPS, no matter what pressures I tried. I had to run them at 30psi (max listed on the tire) to make the steering decent but then they lost all grip!

I am getting my Kuhmo Ecsta AST mounted on Sat! WOO HOO!

Got to be a record, I am changing out tires that only have 4500 miles on them. THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING....

Thanks for the info. My wife will need tires by the end of this year and these will fit the bill nicely.

Thanks Len for the eBay listing. I think that we will get a pair.

thanks a lot people!! you made me order a set to put next to my altimax rear
in the back shop. hate to say it, but the kendas are wearing well with close to 7500
2 up miles on them.-- irv

:D OEM sizing: thanks!
I see that so many folks go with 175 or 185 section-width tires: I figured that I ought to check...
Bob,
Both of us have the "new" BRP styled front fenders. Because of their close fit to the OEM tire, I'm not sure a 175 or 185 tire will fit underneath them without rubbing. The original fenders seem like they would allow space for the larger tires that some are using. I've got 7500 miles and my rear Kenda. Will look to replace it for next riding season. Then I'll have to decide to go with a General Altimax 43 in stock size or go to a 205/55/15 by a number of manufacturers.
Have fun in Valcourt.
Mike

...if I get a set of these Federals, who would mount them? I don't have a shop and I'm not a mechanic....
Jim

if you can change a car tire then you can do it yourself. if not then take them to the shop and have done. all you need is a motorcycle floor jack.

Yeah, I can get the tire off the bike. Then I take the Federals to my tire store and along with the removed tire/rims and they break down the old Kendas and mount the new Federals. That sounds right to me... Thanks.

no, that would defeat the purpose of having the balancers
Not necessarily. There are two phases to balancing. Static and Dynamic. Static refers to imbalance along the vertical plane of the tire/wheel and Dynamic refers to an imbalance axially across that plane. The balancing done at most tire shops does its "best" to do both. But I would have them balanced AND use the Centramatic units, personally.... and I did! ;)

I wasn't as lucky as you were. Then followed Lamont's advise to remove the weights and made things worse. The had some advise from JCthorne and made more sense.
But now with the new road force balance I got the bike is smooth now. May try to reinstall the balancers to see what happens . But then again may not and sell the balancers.
