ISO grips

Hi,
I have a 2011 RT-S on order for delivery this spring ( after the snow leaves ) and I am buying parts now that I will install in the spring.I am looking at ISO grips but not sure what size our handle bars are, is the grip one size fits all on the length or is it bike specific.

I think you are out of luck on the ISO-Grips for the RT. The heated grips come as an assembly, and the grips are integral. I have not heard of anyone successfully changing the grips on an RT.

I have just installed a set of ISO Grips part number 6183 (GL 1800 Heated Grips) over my RT grips. There is a bit of fiddling around but they work really well.
You have to remove the end bar thingies and trim the rubber lip around the end of the grips on the bike.
Replace the screw from the end bar thingies in the bar to hold the throtle return spring in its slot. If you don't you will have trouble with the throtle binding up. (I did)
Next slid the ISO rubber grip over the original grips.
Now comes the tricky bit.
Put one half of the chrome cover over the new rubber grip making sure the rubber pads are inserted properly through the slots provide.(I hope you are following me so far)
Now place the other half of the chrome grip over the remaining pads using a blunt tool to ease the rubbers through the slots until you can close them together and put the srews in. I used a G clamp to help hold it all together as we went. ( you need two people)
Once you have the screws in put the chrome end cap on and away you go.
The heat still comes through quite well.
I also put a small amount of rubber grease in between the chrome grip and the switch block to stop it rubbing.

As DeeKay53 posted it can be done on the SM without too much work, the SE on the other hand runs into some issues with the paddle shifter. For me it wasn't worth hacking up the ISO grip to make it work but it could be done if you really wanted to use them. I'm okay with the stock grips for now. :doorag:

Just installed a set of ISO grips (6183) to a mates RT SE5. Very simple task. We had to shave a bit of plastic off the paddle shifter to make it work. Used a Dremill. There is enough platic to shave off and still be strong. The grips look great and the shifter works perfectly. No need to cut into the chrome on the ISO grip as Lamont suggested.
