There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Is there supposed to be a Voltage Regulator Cover on my Ryker?

Hello,

I've got a 2021 900 Ryker. During an oil change, I noticed my voltage regulator heat sink is out there in the open, which I hadn't paid attention to before. Just below it was a nice shiny bare threaded stud that looked it should have something screwed on it. Is there supposed to be a cover over the voltage regulator? I looked at a parts fiche, and I didn't see anything about a cover. I'm wondering if I lost something out on the road.

Thanks!

I added a photo to my original post. The threaded stud isn't visible, but it's at the bottom of that heat sink. It just seemed suspiciously like it was there for a reason, such as a for a bolt holding down a plastic cover.

Got one that looks just like that on an old 4wheeler - you should see where that is! I think you're fine!

FYI confirmed no cover, stopped by local dealer.

Who was nice enough let me look at one on showroom floor.

I suspect you're fine. Those cooling fins are there for a reason.

Yes, I agree. Heat sinks are important for sure.

Thanks, Bfromla!! You can see that stud in your picture! What's it for???? ;) Anyway, I feel better now. FYI - I'm from the Covington area way down south of you.

Cool beans, glad was helpful & ya got fam right in Covington, don’t visit often enough (either of us) unfortunately shrinking fam at that. :(

**as far as stud goes, it is the zinc coated (brass looking) believe those are threads from bolt on other side just poking through.** I didn’t get to talk with the tech for in-depth knowledge. Not a bad idea if you've got the time & ppl skills go bs with local tech with whatever service need next. Build a 'lil friendship & shared interest. (like how to carry fishing gear on a Ryker?)
