• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The people that have them seem to think so. It's one of those personal preference kind of things. I think there are some accessories that won't work if you have the BRP back rest so you might check that before you buy.

Just wondering is the back rest from brp worth doing and do you have top buy the luggage rack to install the back rest?
You have to have the sports rack in order for the back rest to clamp onto or into it. My boy seems to think it's great. However, I wonder now if I wouldn't have been better off to have bought the corbin seats and corbin backrests

Yes! It looks great, and it functions very well. In my opinion it's the best looking one available. The fact that it telescopes front to back makes it even better. My Wife loves it! When she isn't riding with me, I remove it, and put the sport plate in place.

My first post on this forum!! I've been reading it a while and I fail to see yelling, cursing, nasty comments, etc. GREAT!!! Love it when we can get together and share information.

I currently do not have a motorcycle.. wife and I have had many over the years - last was a Goldwing; wife had a Honda 350.

At my age (73) the Spyder looks like it will work for both of us just fine. Tomorrow (the 18th) we are scheduled at our local dealer to test ride a 2008 Yellow machine - that has a backrest already installed. Saturday my brother is scheduled for a test ride (he is near Houston, TX).

Now my comment about a backrest. My wife will not ride as a passenger w/o one!! Period! Her security 'blanket' and does not feel safe w/o one.

Maybe we'll see ya'll on the road!

I would say yes if your keeping the stock seat however if you plan on changing the seat I found its cheaper to get the backrest that goes along with that seat. For instance the BRP Sport Rack and backrest will be about 600$ but if your changing out your seat and get a corbit or Russel you can get the backrest for 250$ meaning you can get driver and passanger for cheaper than just the passanger backrest from BRP.

Good point, Tim!

Also; for those that are changing to a Corbin seat, and like the looks/function of the BRP Backrest System, it will work with the Corbin. There are a few photos around here showing that set-up. Of course, as Tim says; that makes for a rather costly seat/backrest combo. :)

I need to add that the Russell seat does not offer a passenger backrest, only a driver backrest. If you need a passenger backrest with a Russell seat, you still need the BRP or Kewlmetal backrest.

i have cobin seat and brp backrest ...i like the combination im not a big fan of the look of corbins backrest:coffee:

Got my sportrack and backrest yesterday. Unfortunately, the sportrack was wrong color and the backrest had one of the pin slots broken off. I hope that was just a fluke and it doesn't break while transporting the wife down the highway.

Guess I'll have to wait awhile before giving my 2 cents worth on the backrest's performance... did get a rather good deal on the combination though.

i like you greg you always agree with me .....:D:D:D:coffee:
