INSTALLING SPYDERPOPS MISSING HEAT SHIELD & AIR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

I have ordered the "missing heat shield" and "air management system" from SpyderPops. I have little knowledge about working on this 2008 Spyder SE 5. I am afraid to try to install these parts myself, but if someone has installed them I'd like to know how hard it is to do. I would be most appreciative of any advise or recommendations. If it turns out that installation is beyond my capability, would a good motor cycle mechanic be able to do the job? Thank you in advance for helping me. Sandy

Good questions!!! I'll be watching responses. The right side of my Spyder felt mighty hot today while I was out there ryding. And it was only the low 80's. It's only going to get hotter. So, I may be getting these air dam things myself.

Most of the parts should be pretty easy to install. With that being said, if you are not comfortable taking the lower left panel over the radiator off you may want to get someone else to do it for you. Hopefully you have another Spyder Lover somewhere close that would be willing to come install it for you, but if not then any mechanic should be able to follow the directions without any problems.

Good luck with it.

THANK YOU!

Oh boy..... I will most certainly do my best to install these two parts when they arrive. I read where complete instructions are included. Thank you for answering my question. I will report my success as soon as it is completed. Hopefully my leg and foot will no longer at risk of scorching. It is bad enough that the temperature yesterday was 90 degrees according to the electronic sign on HWY 98 here in Navarre, FL. Makes one want to pull off ATG and jump in the gulf!:yikes: TMI:roflblack:

I'm selling my spyderpops "missing heat shield" it won't fit my bike because of the aerocharger piping. It is brand new never been installed. I paid $42.00 + $12.50shipping, I'd sell it for $35.00 shipped.

Thanks
James

heat

Without the spyderpops heat management system I would have sold my spyder. The heat on my right foot was the worst on any bike I have ever owned. Now it's a keeper.

The order is on its way.

Paypal has already notified me that the parts ordered are on their way. I hope I can install and have a cooler leg. Sandy

I have the missing air dam and have no idea if it does anything at all. I have ridden on decently long rides in summer heat (it gets hot here in MD) and the bike still hits 5 bars (and sometimes 6). I figured the dam would somehow reduce the internal temp, but I can't see any difference.

I know in traffic it's not supposed to do anything, but on the road, I haven't seen any changes...is this just me?

I have all of spyderpops stuff for the heat. I now run at 4 bars where I'd run at 5 on the highway before; yesterday was 91. When the temperature out drops below 80, it runs between 3-4 bars. However, in traffic there is no difference; it runs between 5-6 bars.

Yesterday, I sent Spyderpops a check for the SPY111 Radiator Block Off Plate for my RT. I want to block off the heat on my right leg and foot. I can not put my foot on the right Spyder peg due to the heat.

Do I need something else to block the heat off of my leg/foot? My cooling system works fine and seldom gets over the center mark and it does get a little warm here in south Texas. I just wish to divert the heat. Thanks.
