• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installed a new General Altimax R45 today - My tips!

Yesterday and today have been tire days. Yesterday I installed to new rear tires on my Kawasaki KRX 1000 SxS and today I tackled the Spyder rear tire. I did the work in my carport in the RV Resort. I put the Spyder up on the blocks I use for oil changes and borrowed a HF aluminum roller jack from a friend to raise the rear.

Note in the picture how I kept it from moving on the blocks. I removed the muffler completely for easy access to the brake caliper and speed sensor which I removed during the installation. I also took the parking brake cable on the fixed bracket, and disconnected the ride height link.

Found a Mexican tire shop in Apache Junction that removed the old and mounted the new tire for 20 bucks. And they kept the Kenda also for the 20 bucks. Good deal in my mind.

The OEM Kenda had a lot of weights added. I did not balance the General and it is running nice and smooth.

I did not mess with the wheel/belt alignnment settings. I got the axle back in and then rolled the belt back on and that held the axle forward against the adjustment stops. I have a 250 ft lb torque wrench so tighting the axle to 166 was not an issue.

Tire is the 215/60-15 and now the speedo is off just 1 MPH vs the 2 MPH with the Kenda.

Oh, and I hate Can Am's yellow loc tight!!!!!

You're not alone with your dislike of that bloody loctite!

Sounds like the job went well, have you done a test ride yet?

All that said, I haven't been able to see your pics yet - they are just TOO BIG, so my phone & tablet won't show them!! I'll see them later on, when I get to a larger screen device, but if you want everyone to see your pics, smaller might be better! :cautious:

Yes did a short test ride and ran it up to 65 MPH to check the improvement between GPS and dash display of MPH as noted.

I installed a new rear tire on the Champaign one back in the winter of 2020-21. So I had the 35mm end wrench and socket .

I put the General Altimax on the rear at the beginning of the 2024 season (well, my dealer did). Toured Arkansas and Missouri with it. Huge difference from the Kenda. I think you will like it.

I do the same. What I did to secure the front wheels was I installed cement anchors in my carport. I then screw in eye bolts and strap the front A arms down. I also remove the muffler, but I no longer disconnect the ride height arm. Once the brake caliper and speed sensor are removed, I raise the Spyder until the axle can be pulled free, and I then continue raising it until I can pull the belt off the pulley and the rear tire can be rolled out the back.
