• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Indispensable Accessories

I am about to take the plunge and purchase a Spyder RT-S and I am interested in hearing from other owners which accessories they consider to be the most important. I am a former BMW owner and the accessories really increased the enjoyment of my last ride. I look forward to all of your valuable input.

Most Indispensable, GAS!

The rest is subjective, for me it was comfort first, I went with Seal Floorboards so I could move my feet around. Baker Airwings, great for bringing more air in and cooling you down and diverting rain. Just had a Utopia backrest installed here at SITA. All of which as made the ride more enjoyable.

A lot of spyder lovers have added the heat management aids that Spydrpops sells, I have not added any of that stuff yet.

High mounted tail light (HMT) if you pull a trailer is also a good one to add. There are countless mods and goodies to add, your spyder is just the down payment.

Oh and

:congrats::welcome:

Uhhhhh..... :opps:
All of them?

Actually I really dig my ISCI floorboards, the extra brakelights from TricLEDs, and the armrests from Diamond R.
The rest is just icing on the cake! ;)

For me, the Utopia driver's backrest is the very best mod. Second would be the Kewl Metal highway brackets. The way I have them set up is with the pegs low and close. This allows me to stand on them, raising my butt off the saddle and allowing the blood to flow. Because my knees are straight & I'm leaning against the backrest, I can comfortably ride for miles in this position with either one or two hands on the grips. My legs are short, so I'm actually only an inch or two higher than I am while seated.

These are my two best mods.

Accessories are a very personal choice. What works for me isn't necessarily for you. To me, the only accessories that are indispensable are those for safety. ESI Mudflap Lights, and the ESI HMT Taillight fit that category. The only other mods I usually make are those that are functional in nature, storage solutions, SpyderPops BumpSkid, Starcom1 comm system, etc. For some, the seat is their first target, for others, they go for vinyl wraps, loud mufflers, or custom paint. All are important to them. What is important to you is what counts, though. What do you think is indispensable?

Terrific responses!

Thanks to all who have responded to my post. Your feedback is just what I was looking for!

You do, I hope, realize that once you've started down the slippery slope of "Mount Farkle"; it's imposssible to stop until outside forces intervene:
The Missus... :yikes:
Bankruptcy...
The purchase of a new bike with fresh farkling ideas! :2thumbs:

NancysToy,
i completely concur with your outlook. I am into functional accessories, especially electrical farkles. Safety is of primary importance to me and I will make many of the same modifications you have.

I could not agree more. I have a brand new RT-S and it is bone stock with no modes except a shorter windscreen. I will most likely add a third brake light and a brake light modulator.

I have added a good number of aftermarket accessories to my RT over the last 2 years. Some are for safety and comfort and a few are merely cosmetic.

Safety:
  • HMT third brake light/Back Off XP modulator
  • Fender lights
  • Led Dayrunners

Comfort:
  • Utopia drivers backrest
  • ISCI floorboards

:roflblack: :agree: Mine's bone-stock too... with just a couple of necessities added that I couldn't live without!

This is actually called, "The tip of the camel's nose getting under the tent flap"! :yikes:
