• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Indian blanket

Good for him.. too many times the people show little excitement when they are told how much their items worth. This guy was very happy.

I love to watch this show just to see the reactions when people are told what they have. Next time they come to Salt Lake City I need to take my blanket in. It is Navajo from the 1870's given to my Grandfather

I had Corgi brand cars growing up. High quality toys from Great Britain. When I moved out my mother insisted that I leave the cars for my nephews to play with. BIG MISTAKE!
Those little rat &%#@*&% destroyed or lost them.

I was ways afraid when watching the Road Show that someone would show up with some of those Corgi toys and they would be worth 10x what I had paid for mine. :banghead:

Ran the numbers. One Corgi Simon Snorkle Firetruck I bought back in the early 1960's for $25 translates to $188 in today's dollars! Make me sick it was destroyed.

Good luck. I hope it's worth 100x more than you think it is.

When I lived in Louisiana the Road Show came to New Orleans. I took a couple of items to it. One is an adjustable shelf that can tilt from straight vertical to fully horizontal like a table. Everyone around me said they had never seen one like it. I thought it ought to be worth many hundreds, maybe even a few thousand. The appraiser said it came from a period when mechanical furniture was popular and was worth something on the order of $400. The other item was an "all in one" hand tool with changeable bits, like tack puller, awl, sack needle, a few screwdriver bits, etc., dating back to the early 1900's. The bits were stored in the hollow handle and the cap screwed on. Handle and cap are wood. The appraiser said it was Brazilian Rosewood and was in the best shape and most complete he had ever seen. Value? About $40. What a disappointment that trip was!

What would you do?

:dontknow: If that was your blanket and it had that family lore about receiving it from Kit Carson, would you keep it as a family treasure? Or would you cash it in?

I don't know what I'd do.

I don't think I'd have been disappointed so much. I wish I had something that even might be so valuable. Wasn't it fun to learn about those things? I think it's a neat story.

I guess it would depend on my situation at the time. Hard to tell not actually being in that situation. But $500 grand would be nice..

I'd feel compelled to donate it to a Museum...
...One that was in a position to display it in a manner befitting it's importance to the Heritage of these Native Americans. nojoke
