• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Imotorsports and my new ride :)

Hello all,

I recently sold my 2013 RT. Loved it but got the deal I wanted with a great guy through Cycletrader. He came from over 3 hours+ away to take it and give it a loving new home.

So now....what to do?? I really like the new RT's. The price new was my sticking point. I was looking for a used 20 or 21 but those are hard to find as well. I called Imotorsports and spoke with Mike Kay. They had a used 20 RT that was low miles and priced right. He asked are you a Spyder Lovers forum member. I said yep and he went on to say the a new one may not be that much different cause he could waive setup and delivery dealer fees.

So make a long story short....after some haggling with my credit union on a good rate (which I finally got!! woot...woot) and working with Thomas the finance manager I will soon be a proud owner of a brand new (still in the crate) 2021 Spyder RT Limited Dark Edition in Petrol Metallic Blue.

Do not hesitate to work with them on a new bike. Mike and Thomas were awesome. None of my local dealers would 1) call me back and work with me 2) waive the delivery and setup fees which they said no one would and 3) I knew more about the bikes than they did which is disappointing to say the least.

Now do I fly to Chicago to pick it up?? or let them deliver?? The dilemmas we face ... lol

I have purchased two Spyders in the last year and a half from them. Both my transactions were good. I let them deliver. That does take a couple extra weeks though. And, if they don't ask, the mention that you are a member of SL does negate set up and delivery fees.

Take the flight, and fly the spyder back, good foor the engine, and brakes ands so on, to break in, summer is in the air, enjoy the miles of smiles......

you'll know you be sorry,if you don't

bholliday5150, Congrats on your new Spyder, Thomas Palmer your finance manager will also give you a great price of $671 for an extended 3 year BRP BEST warranty.

T.P.

If you've followed the MY 20-21 RTs on this site you're probably aware of the front drive sprocket issue. Was your still in the crate Spyder manufactured before or after Sept 2020? If the latter it will have the new sprocket. The dealership should be able to tell from the sticker on the swing arm. I'm a picky so-and-so and as such I agree with Pirateez. You're 250 miles away in round numbers, a great distance to pick backroads to return home, varying speed and braking, and a great way to begin breaking in the new machine. If I were buying a new Spyder I would do it in a heartbeat were I in your boots.

Imotorsports allegedly uses the Rolo laser alignment system. I would verify this and, if correct, would ask them to add an alignment to the OTD price; shouldn't cost more than a buck and a quarter or a half.

Good luck with your new ryde!

Ride it home. The weather has been pretty good lately in Illinois. or at least Chicago area.

Setup should be part of the alignment and not have to pay for it.

A couple months ago we purchased out RTL from them. Paul delivered it (to Tennessee) a week to the day after payment was made. We've been very pleased. Check the air pressure. All three of our tires were ten psi high.

Fly to Chicago? According to Map Quest, Vandalia, IL > Chicago is 244 miles. Is this correct? Hell, have a family member/friend take you there, pick up the byke, have lunch and take back roads home.

I would get a rental car drive there turn in rental have someone from store pick you up and drive it back I done this a few times. Enjoy your new ride

Update on the New Spyder...

Mike Kay let me know they had my New Spyder RT Limited set up and ready to go. He said they would reimburse me to fly and pick up as they have for years.

Went with the Fly and Drive option. Flew from STL to Ohare one-way on Monday. (I get it we are still coming thru Covid and all....but damn American Airlines...get your s$$$ together) 2.5 hour delay later finally airborne.

Taxi to Imotorsports from Ohare and asked for Mike (just happened it was him I asked) :)

Mike was awesome. He had all the paperwork complete and the bike sitting outside ready to go home. He took my airfare and taxi fare and reimbursed me on the spot for both. He gave me a rundown on the new machine, a few T-shirts for wife and I, shook hands and on my way for a trip back home
for my 250 mile break in ride on a beautiful blue Illinois day.

Mike is a great guy. If in the market...give him and Imotorsports a try.

Or pick up an Indian, or better yet...both.

I had a great experience with Michael and Thomas very thing when smooth I should have the bike soon I did not pick it up in Chicago because it is a long ride and anything can happen I am a F16 mechanic but I have no parts
