• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi cuznjohn,

Re: I'm not a fireman.

I'm not either; but I used to be a firefighter. In the world of firefighters, a 'fireman' is someone who starts a fire.

In the early 60's, the Portland Fire Bureau was called out to get a kitten out a tree for a little old lady. As she was thinking the guys for doing so, and as they drove away they drove over the cat.

:opps:

True story,

Jerry Baumchen

Fire apparatus bays are slightly sloped to the front doors to assist in hosing them out. If left unchecked. An engine will usually sit still for a time. But not for long.

This happened in 2007. But I'll bet someone is still kicking themselves over it. This engine rolled out of the Ocala Florida fire departments apparatus bay. That means someone REALLY messed up! #1- They didn't set the brake and #2 they didn't chock the wheel. UBER No no's in any fire department. And it isn't like the perpetrator has any chance of ducking the wrap either.

Definitely a very bad day in the career of some aspiring firefighter.

But the comment that left me speechless in all of this is when the fire chief, talking about reducing weight on the engine before having it pulled out of the lake, said; 'We had to drain the 1,000 gallon tank. That's over 10,000 lbs. right there.'

Seriously Chief!? :yikes:

Someone thought "I know a way to wash the rig even faster"

Since that didn't work out so well he changed jobs.

He is now a weatherman :roflblack:
