• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

idling on SE5

sometimes on my SE5 when I stop and idle the spyder will just sit there nicely...sometimes you have to keep your foot planted on the breake to keep it from walking forward...this spyder is pretty new...just hit 400 miles...any thoughts ? (thanks in advance)

I've had the same problem. The dealer's answer is to manually down shift and not rely on the transmission to downshift for you. I've tried that and it does help, but not 100%:dontknow:

Same problem here... dealer updated software; seems worse now. Tech said BRP told him I should 'blip' the throttle. Only works sometimes, and should not be a requirement.

Taking mine back today to see what else they can do (like gear position sensor and oil pressure spring, hopefully).:dontknow:

I had this problem on occasions during the first 1000 miles or so but haven't seen it since. I would just shift to N and then back to first and it would stop. Dealer and others informed me that it happens when the clutch gets hot but shifting to N then to 1st worked 100% for stopping the pulling.

The one and only time I put it in neutral to cure the forward creeping, it would not go back into first. Had to push it out of traffic, turn it off, wait awhile, and then restart it.

Afraid to make that same mistake again.

I second that happening. Happened exactly that way to me. Only I had my wife with me and she started to push, got about 2 feet and it went back to 1st. I didn't have to turn it off. Seems like with stop and go traffic, the transmission doesn't have the time to do what it should when you stop again. When coming to a stop, shifting down gears automatically, it will be where it should be when you stop. I "blip" the throttle also, and it seems to work that way. Just be SURE to apply foot brake so it doesn't lurch forward and cause a rear ender. But if you stop and think about it, if you stop your car in taffic and let go the brake, won't it want to roll forward? The few times it happens on an SE5, I can live with it. And yes, mine has had the "fix" done on it. It shifts a lot better than it did, so I am happy.

i had same problem but it did happen less and less often as i put more miles. at 7k it rarely happens but its always in back of my mind. i always pay attention. when it was happening often i will give it a lil gas with my foot on brake and i hear gear disengaging with a "clunk". i doubt if brp will ever cure this but its something i can and willing to live with.:D

thanks for the data....going to N works and it has not been an issue going back to 1st...have not tried bumping the throttle but I will (carefully)...it does seem to occur more in stop/go like noted below...I will not panic and put some miles on it and see if it improves

That's what I had been doing (going to N, then back to 1st), then it didn't work. I have over 5000 miles. So as I learn more, I enjoy more.

For the record, I am at 300 miles and have this problem too. Its intermittent, seems worse the faster you decellerate while letting the Spyder down-shift by itself. I'm going to use this symptom (among others) to have my dealer apply the service bulletin when I go in for the 600 mile check-up, even though it may not address this specific problem.

i thaink that you shold (with your foot on brakes) give just a little throttle AND let :f_spider: downshift automaticly.

information is power...this weekend I have tried the throttle bump recommend by many of you and it worked perfectly..without the risk of going to N and not being able to get out...thanks !!!
